Fun place ! Good drinks! Pool table and live music ! Water front. Very good customer service.

All I remember on our trip to the bar (restaurant was closed) was walking past the polar bear, getting lost in the huge awesome beer and cocktail menu, ordering some retro pink drink from the bartender (who had definitely been working there longer than the drink had existed), and hovering over to the concrete slabs and rickety picnic tables outside. The rest is a blur... but hey, it was a good blur. This place is totally worth the trip... and if you get carried away, I'm pretty sure the upper level is a hotel. Pure gold.

This place is a true slice of apple pie laced with jalapeno heaven. Beer is awesome. And you can get your weenie whacked for free!

I adore this place. The first time I went there was on a warm spring day last year. My friend Katherine and I got our first drinks from a beautiful, friendly bartender named Hilary, with a penchant for winged eyeliner and liberty roll hairdos. After she got off work, she hung out for a little while, and Gina came on shift. Not to be too misty-woo-woo-shakti-boom, but I think Gina has looked and acted EXACTLY the same in every incarnation she's been through since the beginning of time. As she turned the fans over the bar on, she cracked "Don't you young girls ever sweat? I'm flashin' like a mother#@*$%!!!!". I was instantly sold. The place itself is labyrinthine, crowded with antique signs nailed on every available wall surface and velvet swag curtains hung from the ceiling, a pool table, a curio exhibit, and the crowning glory, (as has been mentioned in other reviews): a gigantic life-sized taxidermied vignette of polar bear towering over its taxidermy seal lunch. There's snacks, a ridiculously extensive beer list, and generally very friendly patrons. One time, Hilary's 6 foot 5 inch tall (Elvis ringer, for sure) boyfriend serenaded us on guitar with Orange Blossom Special and Folsom Prison Blues. I go back there as much as I can, honestly. It's awesome. I need to go back for the barbecue, apparently.

Love love love this place. But let's get one thing straight: you should leave your pretensions at home when you visit the Warehouse. It is the quintessential dive bar, with super-kitsch decor and a predominately blue collar clientele. But there is something here for everyone. For the cerebral types, there is a lot of interesting history about the town of Port Costa to be gleaned from the crazy-friendly staff. Artists are plentiful here for those that want to discuss their newest post-modernist avant garde fully reclaimed creative endeavor (artistic, I am not). There are white-collars to hobnob with if you're into that sort of thing, and there are always groups of down-home, salt of the earth laborers. Degenerate drinkers? Yep, they have those too, and in fact cater to them, what with over 400 beers and drinks that are made double-strength unless otherwise requested. I have made so many amazing friends here that I may not have met through any other avenue, as the Warehouse is uniquely skilled at bringing interesting groups of people together. And Port Costa...what can I say? It is the cutest little town that time forgot, and I love spending time there. Hiking, fishing, eating, drinking...it has everything I look for in a town, not to mention the "it's ok to not constantly be on your cellphone" vibe. Admittedly, I haven't tried the food here, though I hear varying reviews. Yes it is pricey...know why? Because it can be! When people are stuck in an isolated town that offers only two restaurants, drinking their heads off and in need of a meal...you can charge pretty much whatever you'd like! Expect this going into it. If you don't want to spend the money, eat beforehand and load up on bar snacks. No matter your budget, lifestyle or social class, there truly is something here for everybody. So go! And tell everyone I say "hello"!

You know the prefab strip mall restaurant chains that throw a pile of antique bric-a-brac on the walls for "instant character"? It helps them to a point, but this place is what those places are trying to be. It gives an experience that grew out of time and place, that only exists in this place. You can absorb it from the dusty carnival carvings, oversized glass-enclosed booths and padded seating, joke signs and novelties like boxes of "pecker pasta", and oddities like the giant taxidermied polar bear. (It scared my dog when I carried her up close.) For extra insight, browse the Wikipedia history for Contra Costa, CA. At one time it was a landing for the largest sidewheel paddleboat ever built, a ferry for rail cars of the transcontinental railroad. It made this an important spot as America's busiest wheat-shipping port. Wiki briefly mentions a "colorful and violent" history that goes along with the mid-19th-century former brothel (now hotel) across the street. (The only street.) That's quite a background for a town with population of 190. You don't have to research it though, you might also soak it up from the conversation at the bar. I heard that the Warehouse Cafe building was the first fireproof building of its kind for storing wheat, which helped it survive several major fires and earthquakes until now. The owner has a Czech background. That goes with the wall signs that reminded me of Prague, Wiki's mention of 24% czech-american population in town, and the abundance of more than 400 kinds of beer. The clientele is biker-friendly. For music, they like both kinds... country and western. (The pool players treated us to Toby Keith and Johnny Cash). 10-12 of us were on a 60-mile bicycle tour, doing a loop from North Berkeley to Martinez and back. This was our lunch stop. Speaking of food, there's a few less than glowing reviews here on Yelp (I'd say a single-street town is not a place to be overly picky though). I thought they did fine and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially after hard riding. For those who got drinks, they offered all-you-can-eat clam chowder and chili. We also had 7-8 sandwich choices for lunch, and the French Dip was popular with our bike crew. The mixed drinks list was incredibly tempting. I probably should have stayed with 1 of 3 things (a beer, chowder, or a sandwich), but it was too tempting to have it all on this stop, so I pigged out after 20 miles of riding. (It put me on the verge of a food coma, and that's a big mistake when the next part of the trip was a punishing climb up the hills to nearby Carquinez scenic trail, with 40 miles left to get home.) Price wise, it's not small-town cheap, it's just reasonably priced for a unique out-of-the-way destination. I thought my lunch was well worth it, and no more expensive than an average restaurant in the city. The tank of live lobsters indicated they have more pricey dinner options as well. It was nice of them to let me carry my small dog inside, past a big sign that said No Dogs. I brought her to the bar to ask if it was OK, and they loved her. When I put her down on-leash I got a brisk but not-unfriendly warning not to let her run around (expect some personality with the service.) The next part of our bike trip was another attraction you can only get here, Carquinez Scenic Trail. It seemed built for car traffic but the road was so windy and out of the way, that it wasn't possible to maintain well, with parts of the road collapsing off the cliff. It's now blocked off only for biking or hiking, and it's really worth a visit if you're nearby. There's tons of reasons to make a day trip with a pit stop at Warehouse Cafe. It's a memorable place I highly recommend.

Absolutely terrific prime rib, and the NY Strip (1 POUND) was pretty tasty too. Great friendly service that was non obtrusive, but very helpful whenever you needed anything. This Warehouse provides a very unique urban feel, yet you are in a tiny hamlet of 200 people known as Port Costa - nestled between the coastal hills against the busy railroad tracks on the shores of Carquinez Straits. DEFINITELY worth going back!

We were invited to celebrate with friends there. I arrived and thought what is this place? It is at the end of the world!!!! You walk in a huge room that is partitioned into restaurant area, a bar, pool table and arcades. There is a patio to sit out too. This place is very laid back! The service at the bar was not the best, but the restaurant was very accommodating (we were a large group with wild running children). Food was good, large portions and no one got sick! The kids had a blast there, the adults had a blast there. I think I would return for sure.

I've had the best and worst White Russian here. Only let Barbie poor you a mixed drink. Actually, it's best to only go when Barbie is working.

This is my spot! My friends and I live scattered between Antioch and Port Costa and this is our meet up. I don't know very many bars that have the amount of character or space that The Warehouse does and I wouldn't have it any other way! I had my birthday celebration here this year and the staff was more than accommodating (although, this might be because I'm their favorite :P.) Both Larry and Howie always take care of me and my friends and they always have a laugh to share or fun to poke. The drinks are pretty stiff and very cheap and, even though we've been coming here forever, I JUST tried the "Cheese on a Board" cheddar dish and the cheese was SO good. Seriously. I dream about it. The outdoor space is awesome on a nice Bay Area night and they allow doggies and smoking out there which is a must! If you're into an eclectic, inexpensive and interesting night out this is the place to go! Come out, tip the bar staff, and if you see my friends and I at the corner round table, come say "what's up!"

This a great place to come play and have a good time...the older lady who is in her 60s does get flustered at times .....lots to do but if she can she'll give u a tour of the beer cooler she will...she may call u kids because u probably are...she has lived in oakland and berkeley for as many years as customers are old..when there are 100 bikers who want drinks she probably does not have time to get to know the new kids.....do not throw stones please.....give folks a chance....namaste

To be fair I've been drinking here since I have been able to drink. At one time their beer selection (by the bottle) was unmatched anywhere, now days they have cut that in half at least, and still have one of the better (bottle beer) selections this side of the tunnel. It is the epitome of a dive bar! If you love great beer and heavy handed mixed drinks while being surrounded by random trinkets and fun people then this is the place for you. They have a front patio that you can drink on as well as a horseshoe pit out front. It sits right on the water so on a sunny day the view is nice and at night you can see the surrounding towns lights sparkle. They have one pool table and a jukebox to make song selections. Whatever you do make sure to take a picture with the polar bear :)
(5)Melissa H.
It is quirky and weird and a little hard to get to but, boy, does it have character! We had a fabulous afternoon of beer drinking here, enjoying the outdoor seating with our delicious nosh. They had chili in the morning, but were out of it and a lot of first choice beers by the time we got there. No matter, the staff was friendly, their polar bear was huge, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Would definitely come back here. Despite being a biker bar and our group being from OC, somehow we made beautiful music together.
(4)Laura P.
This bar is one of a kind. I'm having a hard time describing it any other way... I spent like 10 minuets just wondering around looking at all the stuff on the walls. I also spent a good amout of time starting at the polar bear. I think i though that i was in a museam or something. Drinks were good, and the locals were friendly. I want to come back during the day and check out the views!

Hippie, Biker, hideaway. You can't find a more eclectic group of patrons. This is what diversity is about... Great Bar, More types of Beer that I have seen in a long time, they pour Doubles Liquor for there mixed drinks unless you ask for something different.... then on the weekends the dining room is open... its somewhat of a limited menu, but what there is, lets say this, if you go home hungry you didn't eat... Prime Rib is my Fav, the Surf and Turf is awesome too... the wait staff are just as eclectic and are fun and sweet.... I hit the Warehouse Cafe about once a month... Its a Winner in my book... See y'all soon.

The Warehouse has many things I love about a bar: Strong ass drinks, an amazing beer selection, kitschy decor, a jukebox (albeit a new internet one), awesome scenery, and mega bonus - the bar runs the brothel hotel across the street. Some said 300, others said as many as 450 beers on the menu but hell I was not counting, I was just drinking. For some ungodly reason I stopped drinking beer and switched to a concoction called a California Lemonade. It was pretty much whisky with a lemon slice. I recommend they give it the tag line "drink this to bring out your inner whore". Which judging from the pics circling around I certainly did. Go. Drink. Enjoy. Thank you yelpers for last night. I felt a lot of boobs. It was awesome. Several of you ladies also reciprocated - again much appreciated. peace, love, and good booze ~ chase

Most obscure and unique bar I've ever seen. There's a giant stuffed polar bear (as in, a polar bear that was once living), crazy decorations and a hodge podge of different types of tables. They serve food twice a week and on Sundays you get free food with your beer. And the beer...well their menu has over 200 different types! Didn't get to stay long as it was a short stop for me, but the ambiance and menu designate it a must return. And, the bar tender was really cool.
(5)Justin N.
So much to tell about this place out in the middle of nowhere aka Port Costa, where to start.. The hundreds of beers? The old brothel turned hotel for the Warehouse's drunken patrons? A rockin' patio to relax and get your drink on? All the reviews mention the character of this place, but you've got to see it for yourself. The decor is eclectic as hell, just look at the pictures, where else can you find a gynmormous polar bear with a headless seal at it's feet? I challenge you to find another place, go for it. The beer, ohhhh the beer. I tried Brazillian beer, Peruvian, Belgian, German and others I don't even remember right now. Somewhere during the evening I evidently decided to represent and go PBR, I just can't help myself and it was nice to see good ol' Pabst in the company of all these other stellar worldly beers. The night zipped by and all of a sudden it was morning, where did all the time go? Due to the booze a lot of my memory is a bit hazy, but I do clearly recall having an amazing time and frankly that's all I really need to know.

I left the confines of the city to visit friends in the area. They suggested a great place to hang out and have drinks. After a lengthy drive through hillsides and wilderness I wondered where we were going. Finally we arrived in a vacant gravel-paved lot and walked into the Warehouse where there was a line of motorcycles parked among various junkyard items. I could have sworn we were having drinks in someone's backyard. The Warehouse is one of the coolest places I've ever been to. The large chalkboard features thier drink specials and a huge laminated menu lists HUNDREDS of different beers. Really, it was like the yellow pages of beer. Once the gang of us ordered our drinks we went out back and parked on a picnic table. I sipped my drink from a mason jar...classy. There's a view of the bay and freight trains passing by. Other locals who were there brought thier dogs and kids. I felt so relaxed and at ease, but I'm sure it was the drink that helped. I have never seen a place quite like The Warehouse. I'm so glad that it's hidden away and very hard-to-find. I would hate to return here one day and find a Starbucks or a Baja Fresh next door.

My husband and I read about this bar in Sunset Magazine. In need of a few hours away from a house full of teenagers we headed out to check it out. Walking through this old warehouse was pretty cool. We sat at the huge old bar and was greated by Jeannie. She is a super friendly, colorful lady with stories to tell. She gave some history of the town & building & invited us back for soup & chili on Sunday afternoona. Our drinks were cold and just what we needed.will be back soon.

I have been out here on my motorcycle a few times and enjoy the curves and country on the ride out. The road is bumpy, rutty and narrow with no real shoulder to speak of with some blind corners that people tend to cut sometimes. Nothing too challenging provided you aren't trying to set any new lap records. As for the Warehouse Cafe at the end of the road... Pro's: - Huge beer selections - Doubles in every drink unless otherwise requested - Variety of cool mix drinks - Nostalgia of old warehouse and antiques - Polar bear from Alaska on display killed in 1965 - Bikers frequent the place - Friendly, talkative bartender (Barbara) - Good food - Off the beaten path on the road to seemingly nowhere - Sundays free clam chowder/chili/salad bar/bread when you buy drink - Pool table - Dinners on Fri-Sat include Prime Rib, Lobster, King Crab - Cheap old hotel across the street - Draft beers served in Mason jars - Nice view of the Delta Con's: - Mixed drinks in the $8 range, $4 draft pints - Place smells like a 120 year old joint usually does - Bikers frequent the place - Trains run through here - Dirt and gravel parking lot with potholes - Dinners are expensive: $30-$35 range and they won't split a plate without charging for an extra salad bar which I believe is $12.95. Clam chowder- Surprisingly good. A bit on the thick side but had a good clam flavor to it. Clams were tender, not a bunch of them but would give it 3 stars out of 5. I am a picky clam chowder person that has dug fresh razor clams for years and made and tasted many of different kinds of clam chowder and I know what a great bowl of fresh chowder tastes like and theirs is actually what I consider, good. Too many places ruin clam chowder with too much cream sherry or fresh thyme; this had no hint of either. Now I will step off my soapbox. Chili- Lots of beans in this chili with some roasted red bell peppers and a slight kick. Spicy scale probably a 3.5 out of 10 meaning those people who only like mild chili would probably not want to finish a whole bowl. They use leftover prime rib from Saturday evening, cut it up and put the chunks in the chili. Chili gets 3 out of 5 stars. Overall 3.5 Stars since it's a cool, off the beaten path place to take a drive and enjoy the solitude in the country. I rounded up to 4 stars since they offer the Sunday food special which is a great value and good food.

We absolutely love coming here. It takes 45 minutes to drive out from Discovery Bay but it's always worth it. I've been coming here since the mid '80's and it's still one of my favorite places to eat. The food is consistently great. I almost always order the shrimp scampi. We have now introduced the cafe to our 5 year old son and he, of course, loves looking at the live, pick-your-own lobsters and the polar bear. This restaurant is a treasure in our Bay Area.
(5)Katherine R.
Love the Warehouse Cafe - been going there all my life. Hot tip - the steak is the best in the bay area. We go in pairs, one orders the steak the other the lobster and then we share. YUMMMM Going for father's day! Enjoy!
(4)Marilyn P.
Yes, there is an endless selection of beer and the salad bar has upgraded considerably since the Juanita days but what always brings me back is the Warehouse Cafe's PRIME RIB dinner. Carnivores, this is the real thing, a huge slab of meat served with wonderful mushrooms cooked with garlic. The dinners are only served Friday and Saturday nights and if you come with a group over 6 be sure to make a reservation.....if you know you want prime rib...reserve that too!
(5)Richard L.
Music was good sitting out on the patio in the sun sipping on a stiff gin and tonic...for $8.00 it should be. Bar staff are wasted. Some people lit up smoking weed at our table. Not cool. Smoke in the parking lot next time. However, ordered two steak sandwiches, brought the ticket to the cook. Was told 10 minutes. Went back in 10, was told I had 3 orders ahead of me by same cook. Went back in 15, was told come back in 5. For a total of 40 mins. Steak was like beef jerky, tough to chew, bread was stale. But the small bag of lay potato chips on the side was fine. Come on 12 bucks !!!! and this is the best the cook can do. How about fries or bake potato. Next time we'll eat before we get there at the Home Buffet in San Pablo. Same price and I can eat all the well cook food that they offer. Or maybe set up a BQ in the parking lot like some other people did. BAR RESCUE needs John Taff! Bathrooms were a pig's stall. Had to hold my breath. The pungent smell of urine was obnoxious. Use to go here when it was Juanita's place. What a let down. And yes they have a bear in a glass case. wooppee do. How about better food, and clean bathrooms and bar.

Why is it our bike rides in rural California always end up at some hole-in-the-wall time-left-behind dive bar? One guy in our group actually remembered when it used to be run by a Madame called Juanitas ( kjpaul.com/sfkaraoke/201… , chowhound.chow.com/topic… ). Unfortunately she's no longer there but the place doesn't seem to have changed. A warehouse with a bar that serves food - free bowl of clam chowder with every beer - a junk store and just lots of random tables. I wouldn't normally just hang out here since it's not easy to get to but it's on the Carquinez Scenic Drive - a twisty road with great views of the Carquinez Straits and Benicia - not to mention part of the road is closed to cars and covered in street graffiti. Everyone enjoyed their lunch break here with most getting the sandwiches and some recovery beer while some ate by the tracks - literally by the railroad tracks. The staff are very mellow and they'll let you take your beers outside to drink wherever you want.

Quick review - We are a very new mom and dad who had visitors from out of town, we took them to Port Costa, like we do all visitors because we love the town. We had to show them Warehouse Cafe, but we were immediately and loudly kicked out for having coffee drinks in the restaurant/bar that we just had purchased from the new cafe just across the road. Why? the bartender said, "because they might have vodka in them"..... vodka, in coffee, while I pushed a stroller around in Port Costa at 2:30 in the afternoon...... with vodka.. - You would think that since there are so few businesses in Port Costa, they would be better at supporting each other. Guess not, and sadly, we won't be back to Warehouse Cafe. Long review- (know how you type fast and furious when your frustrated... mind the grammar errors) Since moving from Berkeley to Benicia, we have made a few discovery's that we find noteworthy. Port Costa is one. Its a cute little town that you can only get to by going through Crocket and the main road ends at the water. When people visit we get so excited to take them to this town and to visit the Warehouse Cafe which is exactly what we did yesterday, we brought three of our friends visiting from out of town to see this "really cool bar and restaurant" however while we were in Port Costa we discovered a little cafe that just was just opened across the road and since I just had a baby 2 months ago I thought a coffee would be a more appropriate treat for me.. So three of the five of us got a coffee and soda a the cafe, then we went on over to the warehouse, it was about 2:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday, the place was only semi-busy, we had our 2 month old baby and our friends had a 16 year old with them. I felt a little weird pushing a stroller into the establishment, but I knew it as a cool hang out that our visiting friends just had to see. Our friend bought a beer while we considered the food menu. However within about 5 minutes of us sitting down at the table near the bear the bartender, (a dark haired small figured lady) Immediately announced, very loudly and to the entire bar, that we should not be in there with our coffees and that for all she new we had vodka in them. Now me with the baby, the 16 year old girl and my husband had the drinks from the cafe and she proceeded to say everyone knows you don't bring outside drinks into a bar. My immediate reaction was apologetic, but she just kept going on,and going on loudly in a bar that was actually quiet at the time. I actually thought it was a restaurant too, which is why I was able to bring my son of two months in, but she told us to take our coffees onto the patio while our friend finished his beer. This makes me sad, I myself have worked in a bar on Haight street and would never take the tone or the volume that this lady did with us. Sadly I won't be going back or bringing any future visitors to this place. I was really excited to have a beer there when mommy-hood finally allows but not with service like that. However, there is a new cafe that opened in same building as the hotel by a beekeeper who sells honey, and he couldn't be sweeter. This is where we'll be taking our friends in the future instead.

First off, I look forward to coming back here and adding some more stars to this review! I really want to like this place! Hubby and I went fishing near here and afterwards decided to check this place out. In the past when we ventured out to Port Costa every single place was closed, so we were happy to see this ONE place open this time. There was BBQ fundraiser of some sort on the patio, but we didn't feel like spending $20 on a rib plate when we really just wanted an afternoon snack and a beer. It is really neat inside with a crazy collection of oddities. The most striking being the huge stuffed polar bear. This place seems like it would fit well into a horror movie where the group of teenagers gets stranded on a highway after their car mysteriously breaks down (or rolls down a cliff on a winding road, which definitely could happen when you're driving here) and find a strange small town to take refuge in. This is the only place they come to that's open and it's strange layout and somewhat dank interior makes for some great hiding and chase scenes. OK, imagination aside, the bartender was very odd and more than a little off putting. I suppose it was presumptuous of us to think we could just walk in and order things from her when she so obviously had plenty of other, more important things to do. Keep in mind that there was a total of maybe three other people there. Two of which were playing pool and appeared to be regulars. We each got a beer, which is served in mason jars- a nice touch! And, after the bartender vehemently said she doesn't do hot dogs or sausages (eliminating half the menu) we ordered the smoked turkey sandwich and potato salad to split, which she was able to throw together in under 3 minutes! Once we got it I saw, and tasted, why. After one bite of soggy white bread soaked in mayo with wilted lettuce and slimy processed turkey and cheese, I decided I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was. The potato salad was worse and definitely scooped out of a large store bought jug of some sort. At least it was only $8. I have heard good things about this place from a friend and am determined to go back there and give this place another chance. Maybe when it's a little more busy and hopefully when someone else is bartending.

I've heard rumors of this biker bar somewhere in Port Costa but thought it was just urban legend. I looked up the Warehouse and BAM, there it was, endless 5 star reviews on YELP. So we went :) To get to the Warehouse, you drive thru winding roads, then towards the bottom of the hill, a small town appears and I'm thinking to myself, "I must be in the twilight zone". I had no idea there was a little town tucked away below these hills. It was a trip! I've lived in the Hercules/Pinole area for over 30 years and never thought there was a town here. We entered the bar and was greeted by Larry the bartender. Cool dude. We ordered there white beer on tap which was VERY GOOD. The decor and everything in the bar was so intriguing that I could not stop staring at all the interesting artifacts on the wall. LOVE IT! Then we had the pleasure of walking into their fridge which was stocked wall to wall with beer. I was in awe...I will definitely come back here and looking forward to trying their other concoctions on the wall.

Thank god I found this place. I moved up here from Southern California where I left behind my favorite biker bar tucked away in the canyons. This place easily rivals my old stomping grounds on multiple fronts. The alcohol is well priced, the bar tenders are super funny and friendly, the crowd is a mix of bikers, locals, hipsters, hippies and everything in between. You can drink a beer and watch ships sail by and trains roll by. This used to be a brothel dating back to the 1800s and there is tons of rustic character oozing out of the entire place. You can pretty much do whatever you want here and have a good time. I love riding my Harley through the canyon to get here. I pass tons of cows on the way in. If you are big into beer, they have a giant cooler with over 100 beers from around the world, including delirium tremens. They also have all kinds of other mixed drink special too. If you are looking for something fancy and upscale this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for fun, relaxed and laid back, enjoy. Also, if you drink too much they have a hotel next door that is super cheap that you can sign up for at the bar. If you are afraid of twisting narrow country roads be advised that is the only way to get here. Sundays there is usually a live band, lots of bikers, classic cars and fun people having a good time.

I love the Warehouse Cafe. For dinner they have a small menu, but is is a full course meal and extremely delicious and filling. Also the beer selection is amazing. I had the pleasure of going in the cool beer room and picked out my own. Just be careful not to drink too much because the drive getting there is long and windy. I love the feel of this place, it is different than most of the bars I have experienced in CA.

This restaurant is eclectic and eccentric in an Addams Family kind of way The main courses are huge and very good. The all you can eat salad, chilli , and chowder is very average,. The desert selection is very limited but also very tasty

Lunch there last Saturday. 3-4 stars for atmosphere. Great bar with loads of beers to choose from. Cool bartender... pretty brunette 40-50ish. Reminded me of my Aunt Shirley. Anyway my rating is based on food. We arrived 11:30 ish but lunch isn't served until '12-ish' or when they feel like opening. Friendly service but the menu leaves a lot...5 or 6 items only. Burgers were o.k. and my mom enjoyed the steak sandwich. I'd give 2 1/2 stars if possible.

This place is kitschy, has a pool table, a juke box, a live lobster tank, a lake, and a FREAKIN' POLAR BEAR. polar bear! polar bear. If you're nice, they will let you go into their walk in fridge to pick out one of their 100 beers. AND there's a store where you can pick yourself up a souvenir ... sword cane anyone?? Enough said. polar bear.

I love this place! Looking for a random hole in the wall? If the answer is yes, and you have good shocks on your car to survive the parking lot then you are in for a treat! Amazing selection of Beer? IF you can't make up your mind from staring at the huge lists, just ask if you can see the beer fridge... JAW Dropping! It's not exactly on the way to anywhere for me but it's worth the occasional drive with a friend for a good drink and atmosphere. I especially loved the crowd on Valentines day when we went and stayed in the hotel across the street... that's an experience or shall I say adventure for a different review. Two words of caution: 1) If going anytime around the rainy season... be prepared to puddle jump in your car and on foot ... the pot holes in the gravel parking lot will consume you and 2) if you lack an affinity for dust, the antiques and totally bizarre decorations in this place will turn you off for sure.

I wanted to plan a special and unconventional birthday for someone while I was back for break. And, well, let's be honest, if it involved me, it wouldn't take much else to make him happy. And, let's be honest again, I met him at a Tenderloin dive bar crawl...which means that both of us would appreciate something off-beaten-path...if not dodgy. So once I pinned him down for a date, which was ridiculously difficult to do with him and makes a control freak like me want to rip out my hair, I went to Yelp and researched some options. And I had one of those grand epiphanies that reminded me of this place. Melissa B. (don't kill me for not seeing you while I was here! time got away from me!) had her dirty thirty here a year or so ago and I was beyond depressed that I couldn't make it. I was helping a friend plan her wedding or something like that. And once I saw all the talk threads about the events and all the Facebook photo tags, I knew that I clearly should've told my engaged friend that her planning could wait. So once I made plans, I texted I had it covered but that it was a surprise. He wanted some details and I only said "by water, but not SF." and then he wanted to know what to wear and I was all "your birthday suit...but seriously, it's casual." We really did enjoy ourselves. From the windy drive up here to the views from the hills to the polar bear to the bartender with nine and a half fingers to the several hundred beers (one which is even gluten-free because it's made with sorghum bran) to the loud and eccentric patrons, this place is a hidden gem. I'd rather go back when it's warm though...the hotel across the street was quite a different experience and until they get heat, avoid in winter months! Self promotion, check out this article I wrote about sorghum bran for one of my classes at BU stivetopia.blogspot.com/…

I love this area and town. Population around 200 - 300 people ?? it is truly a step back into time where you can have surroundings and experiences, you just cant re-create any other location in the SF Bay Area. It is like crossing "The Twilight Zone" or at least some kind of awesome Time Warp. This place is funky, and really dark with aromas of ancient exposed wood fill your nose as soon as you walk in. It is in fact, an old warehouse, and unlike the gentrified updated old buildings seen in many areas like Sausalito, this one has "greatfully" been left alone ( Yes, indeed, there are some occasional Cobwebs that add to that authentic charm.) This building used to be a crowded, large and touristy antique destination back in the 60's and 70's- the booming days of Port Costa, when you literally could not find a parking space in the huge pot-holed dirt lot near the water. The pot-holes are still here, and the main skeletons of that era have thankfully remained..... sans the throng of tourists. It is a quiet secret destination here now, only for those that will appreciate its time-warn haunting beauty. Port Costa, its bars (2). restaurants (2) and Haunted Hotel (1), are not for everybody. Not much to do here, unless you drink at the Bar, or eat at the Warehouse Restaurant on a Thursday Friday or Saturday night. The food is OK, not stellar, a very simple menu, that is simply prepared : Steak, Prime Rib, King Crab Legs or Scampi. If you are looking for fancy cuisine, in a fancy restaurant, you will be lost here, and perhaps, feel like you have just crossed over into... "THE TWILIGHT ZONE ".... For all the rest of you looking for that singular, eccentric old- fashioned experience, BRING IT.

HELL yes for this place... Quiet place in the middle of nowhere with a good beer selection. I like the Black Dog, which I can't get at home in Texas. I make several ventures a year to the Bay Area, and I definitely plan on returning to this place in January. Cool view of the water, as well.
(5)Ivy R.
This place is so great. Its like out of some great movie. I actually saw a movie being shot out in front by the railroad tracks once. Its just a really great place. I drink Guiness out of the can and the mixed drinks are really good to. I've gone here for my birthday like two years in a row.

Went back to the Warehouse Cafe during this weekend's car show and split the Kielbasa sandwich. It was greasy but OH SO GOOD! and I wished I hadn't split it. It was on a soft inside, crunchy outside sourdough bun to die for, dripping with mayo and sliced tomatoes. If you like you can have the peppers and onions but I didn't. The food ordering process is strange. The bartender takes your order but then hands you the sticky note for you to take to the kitchen and go back to pick up your food when you think it is ready. Odd but it was worth it in the end. If you have never been to the Warehouse it is definitely one of those places you must do once, it's odd and eclectic. Don't have too many drinks unless you have a designated driver because it is a windy road down into town and they drinks are also pricey at $8.

Night Visit: Rolled here wit Trillmaster 3000 and the guitarist from At the Drive In. Not as in the cuts as I thought, we strolled through to a bar with a excellent selection of beer options. I started with the Long Island Ice Tea though and it provided a healthy buzz. Then I noticed the Stone IPA 22 oz for $7.00 Dats what I'm talkin' bout! Morning Visit: The local villagers informed us of Breakfast Burritos served at 10 am. I watched a cook stirring the eggs, sausage and other ingredients. I asked him a question and he said nothing. I could feel the music from " The Hills Have Eyes" beating in my heart. I talked with the bartender, Gina, about Horror movies after she scolded Dru for his smartass ways. Next thing I know the cook was walking around selling the burritos @ $5.00 apiece. Could be a bit bigger, but I drank coffee for free so I wasn't trippin. If you go here to drink there's hotel to stay at next door, don't be an imbecile and drive drunk, the drinks here are stiff.

The Warehouse is...interesting. In a good way. The drive into Port Costa was terrifying. If there was a place to review the 3 miles of sharp ass turns and easy to miss cross sections, I would be giving negative stars. I went the wrong way my first time driving out here, and ended up at a dead end with strange men hanging out on the metal blockade. It feels like some Hills Have Eyes shit. Once you get into Port Costa, you run into very few street lights and no signal on your GPS. Thank god you really can't get lost in a one lane town. The Warehouse has such a good atmosphere. Most bars in this general area are just loud, obnoxious, and a meat market for drunken, gyrating mammals looking to practice procreating. Here, you get friendly locals who just want to have a drink, relax, and have a great time. It lost a star because of the god awful bathrooms. I couldn't find it, first of all. Once I did, you find out that there are no bath room stall doors. So being drunk and uncoordinated and relatively exposed, that's not my idea of fun. If you DO go and plan to get unbelievably sloshed, I suggest getting a cheap room right across the street. A short, ungraceful walk across the street is much better than ending up with the mutants in those scary ass hills.
(4)VB L.
Just like other Yelpers have said, it's a museum for drunks. You walk in and there's so much to look at you almost forget to order drinks. Genius! Let's put a bunch of really cool stuff in a bar and sell drinks to people that will spend hours here looking at everything. We've been here several times and we always find something new. And top off the scenery with some stiff drinks and decent food? Baby, this place is the bomb! Hard to find, but worth the treasure hunt. Just get off at the end of the bridge and turn left. Yeah!
(5)Stacy P.
I love eccentric places, Warehouse Café is one of those places you can hang out and look on the walls for hours. It's not for the timid, it's a favorite hang out for bikers. During the summer they have a lot of visitors. I was told by the locals, in the day The Warehouse was a brothel. It over looks the north bay under the Carquinez Bridge. You can even pull up on a jet ski as a couple of guys I chatted with did. The best part is you can get my local beer 'Punkin Ale' Everyone was friendly that I met. I'll be back in the summer for there famous BBQ's. PS I asked permission from the people in the photos to take there photos.
(5)David O.
At long last, the wife and I try the Yelp famous Warehouse Cafe in Port Costa... What can I say? This place most certainly lives up to the legend and lore that it carries. This former brothel turned biker bar attracts quite an eclectic crowd, but goddamn if we all can't have a blast drinking beers here on the patio while staring at the ships sailing by on the Carquinez Straits!! We had beers... many, many beers, and all were wonderful not for the alcoholic beverage they contained but for the stories and laughs that accompanied them. We met this funky couple, he from Vallejo, she from Sacramento and we talked for several hours with them about life, crime in Vallejo, relationships, jewelry, what have you. These are probably people we'd never have even acknowledged anywhere else but... but here at Warehouse Cafe, we almost became friends for a few hours. We'll most definitely be back for more beers... and more laughs with some pretty fucking cool people from right here in the Bay Area we all love so much!

Let me start by saying that I'm 90% sure my friend Judith manufactured all of the previous reviews just to convince me to come here for her birthday next year. I despise this place - from the dead polar bear to the lousy meat to the salad bar that makes Sizzler's look like paradise to the scary patrons. I don't think there is anything approaching edible in the salad bar - makes Safeway's deli look healthy - can you say mayo and glow in the dark jello and unidentifiable glop? My to my dear friend's chagrin, after enduring this place for 4 birthday dinners, I just refuse to go here. Thankfully she had a BBQ at another friend's house for her bd last weekend. Seriously, I'd even rather go to McDonald's or Jack in the Box. Even Taco Bell. And that's bad.

I havent been here in quite awhile but I had a good time here. The Story: My neighbors invited me out on their boat one evening, so I accepted. Later did I find out that we were to use the boat to go have a drink or afew. So we drove down to Benicia, launched the boat and drove it straight across to port costa where we beached it and anchored it to many large driftwoods. We all ran across the railroad tracks and entered the Warehouse. Very interesting decor and random cool things are all around the place. As time went on I met lots of cool locals and some not so locals. Regardless everyone was cool. Everything was nicely priced and the mood was chill. It was a good night!

Could/would live here.

Our first time ever here last night...it's a restaurant/bar...more bar though. Awesome pub! We had fun looking at their walk-in fridge full of bottled beers. Wooohoo, just for the experience! We had a great time playing pool. And the boys learned a new way of playing....Brazilian. We had fun chucking quarters into the jukebox and playing some country and modern tunes. They have food on Fri, Sat and Sun....

I'm a huge fan of the warehouse restaurant/bar and the hotel next door, however they have to do something about the unlit parking lot. Not only is it poorly maintained (potholes everywhere) but as we discovered this past weekend.. it is completely unsafe. We were having a great time at the warehouse (and hotel) on 11/08/09.. but the fun ended abruptly when we discovered that one of the girls in our group had been brutally attacked and beaten in the parking lot. It was approximately 3am. It also took the police over an hour to arrive (this girl was bleeding from the head, and the assaliants were able to easily escape without any witnesses). We were told that this parking lot is owned by the railroad, and they have no control over it... however I think this is a case where either the bar or the city needs to step in and do something to make it safer. Doesn't matter who owns that lot.. this is the lot that your customers park in.. if it's not safe to park there, let your customers know. .. and install some lights. Since those kids got away with it this time.. who knows when/if they might come back. If you know kids are hanging out back there partying, call the cops and get them out of there.

I've been here 3 times and I've got to say that there isn't a more eclectic, fun, interesting place to go for drinks and/or dinner. Their mixed drinks are outstanding, as well as an unbelievable beer list. The staff are great, and you feel nothing but welcome from the moment you step foot inside. Don't miss the "Foster Farm's Chickens" outside in the old delivery truck!
(5)Johnny W.
This is a one of a kind restaurant. It's in the middle of nowhere; but if you want to be in a secluded area for a meal, this is the place to be. This restaurant, bar and the hotel right next door has a lot of history and the workers will be more than happy to tell you about it. The ambiance has a 19th century feel to it with a giant polar bear that is extremely creepy but cool! As for the food, I really enjoy their Alaskan King Crab! It's the best cooked crab that I've ever had and I will always order this whenever I come back here. I would recommend this place to take out on a date or with a group of friends. After dinner, you could head over to the bar, play pool, or smoke cigars outside on their patio with an awesome view of Benicia.

One of the best things about moving to Crockett is that I'm only a few miles down the road from The Warehouse. The overwhelming majority of reviews for this place are favorable, and I can attest to the accuracy of those good reviews - whats not to like?? I can't think of a better way to spend a hot afternoon or early evening after work than sitting outside the bar there sipping an ice cold Sierra Nevada. Most everybody knows about their excellent bottled beer selections, and the fact you can step into the cooler and pick out your beer which is pretty cool. Their cocktails pack a punch and are actually pretty good (in a no-frills kinda way). The staff has always been friendly whether its a busy weekend or a quiet Tuesday night. Its a bit of a trek if you're not from the area, but I guarantee it's worth the drive! Don't forget to ask the bartender for a Port Costa Ring!

Eh, 2.5 stars. I would like to come back to this place int he summertime when it is warmer and we can sit outside at the tables with a nice view of the water. But I was not too impressed this past weekend when three of my friends and I stopped by from some drinks. Be careful of the windy roads, especially in the dark! There are a lot of tight turns through the woods and no lights once you get off of the freeway. This place really seems to be off the beaten path until you get to Port Costa. I like the idea of this place. It is spacious enough. One one side is the bar with some pool tables and on the other side is the dining room. We opted for the bar first. They have a decent selection of beers and specialty drinks. A couple of us were a little hungry and asked the bartender if we could order an appetizer or munchies at the bar. He said no, that food had to be ordered in the dining room. Uhh...okay? So we get our beers and move to the dining room. When we see the menu, everything is $17.95 and up with the exception of the salad bar. The only items available were things like steaks, lobster, etc. No smaller plates or appetizers. When we asked the waitress if there were any other options, she said we could order smaller items like hot dogs and nachos at the bar! Wait a minute, the bartender said we couldn't order at the bar? The waitress responded with, 'Oh, sometimes he just says that if he is really busy and doesn't want to take the time to put in an order. Maybe if you bat your eyes at him he will do it for you." Uhh...okay? I shouldn't have to 'bat my eyes' for a service they should be providing because the bartender 'doesn't feel like providing.' This kinda miffed me. A couple of my friends got a rather large plate of food that was good, but definitely couldn't be finished. I'd like to come back, but I better make sure I eat first unless I want to spent $25 for a monstrous plate of food I can't eat.
(2)Brian S.
This place rocks and has a massive beer selection. I had a great time getting drunk with all the other yelpers and yelpettes who are down to hang with Megan! This place had 5 stars going for them, until they started skipping all the Madonna on the Jukebox. If they had skipped all three Britney songs I selected, I would've understood, but Madonna? :( DON'T SELECT MADONNA ON THE JUKEBOX. THESE SONGS WILL BE SKIPPED. Anyway. I want to come back during the daytime to enjoy the scenery and the grub.
(4)Dan P.
Ok. Yes. It sucks that somebody got mugged in the parking lot. It really does. But for fucks sake. You can't blame the bar and give them 1 star reviews! The lot is not their property, therefore cannot install lights. Be realistic. Yelp is for rating things based on service, and other things under their control. You can't give somebody a 1 star review because you got struck by lightning on your way home! This bar is phenomenal. It really is. They have 300 some-odd beers on the menu, and contrary to some reviews below, they really do have over 300 at any one time. The potty mouthed lady that works monday nights may be my favorite bar tender of all time. Enjoy!
(5)Michael E.
If youre looking for a quaint, charming place to sit down, chat and have a great drink, this is the place to go! Driving into the town you may feel a little creeped out with (especially in the dark), but once you get inside you will feel totally welcome. All the bartenders are very nice and fairly knowledgeable about their vast selection of beer (hundreds from around the world). There is usually music from the juke box playing, but it never gets so loud that you have to shout at someone next to you. There is also a ton of crazy cool things to keep your eyes busy while youre hanging out, the most noticeable of which is a giant stuffed polar bear. Dont let the little creepy bars in Martinez or the isolation of Port Costa scare you away from the Warehouse, its definitely worth checking out no matter your personal tastes.
(5)Joe B.
For years I've wanted to go to The Warehouse, hearing legends of hundreds of beers in a walk-in freezer. I had visions in my mind of what such a place would look like, and some were true, some not, but my first visit to The Warehouse did not disappoint. I don't know how some bikers manage to ride here and then go anywhere else without staying in The Burlington Hotel next door. Limit yourself to one or two beers if you can if you plan on riding out of here through the twisty mountain road leading here. And please, don't drink and drive, especially for the sake of the bikers who come here and for your own safety should you run into one. Wouldn't want to be you . . . The beers, the polar bear, the haphazard layout, the outside porch with room for dogs to run around, the dilapidated decor, the trains going by just a hundred feet away or so, and the general good-natured recklessness of the place make me happy to be an American. I hope to come back many times, hopefully with a bunch of friends in tow, hopefully to spend a lazy afternoon kicking it and not wake up the next morning feeling like hell with the wheels ridden off. Warehouse, long may you run, although these changes have come. With your chrome heart shining in the sun, long may you run.

Below the hills of a small California town, lays a smaller town.... In generations that span the realm of time, cross the sea of possibility and find a niche where they belong, rose a group who knew no boundaries, who forgot the meaning of "last call" and quiet frankly never understood it at all. We are a different lot, not unruly but far from rule abiding. We are dreamers of the day, digital critics seeking a new cause for fun, discovering a better way to party. We'll dance on the sun, skip rocks on the moon, and drink under shooting stars. Some ask, "Where are you guys from"? Others may ask, "How many of you are there"? With an occasional smile and lifting of the drinkable glass awaiting its stimulus refill, we simply say the initials "YS" and walk away, and before two steps are taken were asked; "well what does that stand for"? With a grin of expectation we continue walking, turn around and tell them..."Yelp Society"
(5)Maren A.
I love this place. They have a stuffed polar bear, as well as a lot of other taxidermy. It's in a really big, old building. The bartender is hilarious. On Sundays they have free food, such as clam chowder, chili, and salad. Get there early before it's all gone. Really cool place with a small town feel (well, it is in a small town).
(5)Stanley K.
Yes, this place is woo hoo! As good as it gets. You come here for four things: Number # 1, BEER! ( I'm assuming over 300 beers from all over the world, even the most......blah blah blah blah something something something something something and something ) You know what, I can't remember. I just got back and my brain isn't functioning. Number #2 - the ambiance is off the charts, taxidermy buffalo, seal, polar beer, etc etc. You see all sorts of ridiculous junk here, but they are awesome! I love bars with character! Number #3 -The whore hostel across the street, best night sleep I had ;) Number #4- It's out in BFE! It's just a little creepy town with creepy folks with their creepy bar and creepy brothel with an amazing lake, railroads, deers, and one awesome cool neighbor who hook me up with a ice cold water with ICE yo! You rock mr. neighbor guy! Ps. That is all you need to know, I don't want to spoil your experience here and if you do come, you better invite me! Pss. Don't drink and drive, you are saving a life. SERIOUS WORDs! Don't ruin this place for the locals. PSSS. Sundays BBQ is supposedly awesome here.
(5)Ken-ichi U.
Pretty cool bar with a friendly bar tender, awesome decor, and a billion bottled beers, but almost nothing on tap. Also, as someone who was not wearing black leather, I felt a bit out of place. Amusing story: it took a bit for us to get our drinks because the bartender was taking an order from / being hit on by a rowdy biker dude, who finally asked for tequila and OJ. The bartender proceeded to pour an ungodly quantity of tequila into a mason jar, until the biker dude said, "Woah, what are you doing?!" "Oh, sorry," she replied, "I'll make you another." She then turned to the bearded guy in the cowboy hat featured in the lead Yelp pic above, and asked, "What do you want in your tequila?" Bearded guy made a noncommital grunt, and she proceeded to squirt a hint of orange juice into this jar-full of tequila and planted it in front of him, beside the glass from which he was already sipping. "He drinks my mistakes," she explained.

And now, for something completely different.... Beer, booze, and beef in the middle of nowhere - what's not to like?
(4)Judith B.
Okay, I have a bias. The Warehouse Cafe is my favorite restaurant for dinner out. It is fun and funky and I like the food, like the wait staff, the service is good. They serve alcohol if you're into that. It's comfortable, to say the least. I love this place. It's been 13 years since I was introduced to this place, and it's never been convenient to places I've lived. I was first brought there because they have 200+ microbrewery beers on site and numerous others on tap. Well, it turns out (she didn't ask), I don't like beer. At all. They do have some microbrew rootbeer, however. When I first went to the Warehouse Cafe, their dinners were under $20. I'm a prime rib fan, so that's all I ate there for years. 13 years later, their meals are more like $25. $30 for lobster if I remember correctly. Totally reasonable for a big plate with at least two meals on it. (They do charge you for a split.) Their limited menu includes prime rib, a good steak, crab legs, lobster, and some combinations thereof. They have a so-so salad bar with really good clam chowder and rally good chili con carne. They bring you good sourdough bread. A cup of sauteed mushrooms accompanies the beef entrees. Lots of food. My brother ordered the lobster here. We're not the lobster types. The waitress sat down at our table and gave him the whole lobster lesson (they serve you the whole thing). I've seen them do this now on several occasions. Very down-to-earth. Really, really nice. Not pretentious at all. They only serve dinner on Friday and Saturday nights - and don't go the Friday after Thanksgiving 'cause it's a long drive for no dinner. They do summer barbecues on Sundays and serve the left-overs from the two nights before. It's kind of a funky biker bar the rest of the time. I've been there when there was live music. Mostly, it's juke box. They do have a full bar, and I've enjoyed many cocktails there. Just don't forget the dark, windy road ahead of you. :o) I've been at this place when a local kitty wandered through looking for crab and lobster tidbits. I've been there (shhhh) when someone brought a little dog in, and it was permitted to stay. It's just really, really comfortable. I've had my birthday dinner there for years and years. The junk that decorates the place, the wall-rug with the Last Supper on it, the stuffed polar bear with the dead seal at it's foot, the little weird gift shop thingy ... you have to experience it to believe it, I think. It's totally worth the drive. Don't know how they get away with it, but the bathrooms are up some stairs - definitely not wheelchair accessible.
(4)Ashley W.
I have to bump them up to 5 stars. I love this place. One of my all time favs.
(5)Dizzy L.
The beating in the parking lot was not okay. Scariest thing I've ever gone through. This area needs to be made safe for patrons and the folks who live in Port Costa. Please see the other comments about what happened below....

Came here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. This is definitely a random location, it's out in the middle of nowhere and right on the water. They have outdoor and indoor seating, with food served inside. This is a perfect place to meet up with some friends, grab a couple of beers and enjoy some great weather. They also have a walk-in cold door FULL of beers from all over the world, you just have to ask one of the bartenders to let you back there so you can choose which beer you want. A couple of recommendations: - there is a hotel next door that you can stay at for about $40 a night instead of driving home (it's a former whorehouse) - you can bring a igloo of your own beers and enjoy them at the hotel - your doggie will be welcomed at the outdoor area of the bar - definitely have a DD when driving back at night, the road is windy and dangerously curvy at some parts. - if you do stay at the hotel bring some snacks because there is no grocery store that is within walking distance I'll definitely be back, it was a fun evening and next time I'm going to be more prepared, by bringing my doggie and booking a hotel room!

We got lost trying to find this place, but it is like stepping back in time. They have so many cool things place throughout the building. I want to go back there and stay at the hotel. My boyfriend said that it is haunted! Man this place gets you drunk! These bartenders are great people filled with so much life. Probably because they don't have to work in the city with all the sad saps. The polar bear makes me sad, but it is so out of place you can't help but look at him.
(5)Alicia A.
The Warehouse Cafe is a fun and funky place to go for a good steak, crab or a wide selection of alcoholic drinks.. I think they have at least 25 different beers. I just looked at the menu folks- I didn't order anything because Muslims don't drink! Alcohol that is. I love going here there is a small arcade near the bathroom. They have a collection of cool and unique items like a huge stuffed polar bear, a huge round table like king arthur probably sat around and those cool turnstyle things that kids love to push the doors around until they get dizzy in them. The staff is always super friendly and nice. The location is a bit out of the way but I think all the better for it.. during the day its very scenic with views if you sit outside -of the Bay - at night the city lights reflect off the Bay or provide a soften background when the Marine Layer rolls in. Parking is in a gravel lot.. so don't bring your shiny new car- it will get at least one ding and it will make your car a bit dusty. This is a great place for kids because everything is pretty tough and if it can with stand my cousins.. running around and being crazy it rates pretty high on the kid proof scale- especially with the concrete floors. Thank god for concrete- Go smart Romans for inventing the stuff. I always get the crab- yum yum- its a great way to make sure you really earned your dinner. Plus its always fun to put the crab claws on your fingers and threaten your younger cousins- that you will get them- "my pretties." So yeah-- if you want some crab and your aren't a crab come get some at the Warehouse Cafe- its a bit of a drive but a hidden gem in my opinion.

If you like old towns, I mean old ghost style towns, this place is a must at night. Ask any waitress about the ghosts, and I'm sure they'll be able to tell you a tale or two. The place is an old warehouse converted into a restaurant and bar. The food, if you like Prime Rib, Lobster, Surf & Turf, and all you can eat soup and salad for under $30, then you'll love it. I like the Prime Rib the best and it is huge, so you better be hungry. Now for the beers, at your table you should find a beer menu. If not, ask for one because you'll find 100's of beers from around the globe. What's really cool is that you ask the waitress to take you to their beer cellar and you can choose in there by looking at all the different labels. During the Summer months Sundays there is live music, bbq, and the soup and salad bar. This is definitely a must if you're looking for a really kewl dining EXPERIENCE. Enjoy and bring your camera to take a picture with the polar bear!

well shit, looks like every one has said it for me. This place is amazing! My neigborhood bar, and an incredable destination spot. Thank all for making it what it is.

What a cool place. If you like to find something that you will not see every day, visit The Warehouse Cafe. You will not be disappointed.
(5)Keith B.
Worth your while. The only real drawback is that it's not on the way to anywhere, and you'll more or less have to know you're going there and plan it in advance since it's not exactly near anything. Good ambience, though, and it draws a decent enough crowd. The bartenders are funny and accomodating, typically if they know you're new they'll show you the beer freezer. Reasonably priced, and yeah, of course there's all the decorations. If you're feeling adventurous, give it a go.

So the place sports that they have hundreds of beers to choose from (not just 25) and with that a rather well slathered place. The place is complete with the rumbles of cycles, the occasional dog, a nearby train rushing by, plus the mystique of being lost in time. I think if I had another beer I would have given it a couple more stars, but I needed a designated driver. While there.. certainly play a game of pool, tell a dirty joke, brag about how really loud your Harley is, eat a lobster tail ($30 bucks or so), look at a stuffed polar bear, eat popcorn, peel the label off your bottle, head out back on their patio, kick some dirt around and well.. anything else you can do to hopefully leave a mark. Note: less than an hour after writing this review someone claiming he is the grandson of the man who shot the polar bear wrote me. Too cool and easily worth two extra stars!!!!

So, I'm going to have to go back to this place and really give it a second chance, b/c the other reviews are great and I just didn't see it! Alright so honestly, I sat outside and didn't go in b/c I had my dog with me...but my friend went in to order beer for us and she came out kinda miffed at the bartender who was kinda snatchy to her. Anyway, she came outside with the beer menu which was HUGE!!! I was SUPER IMPRESSED AND EXCITED...UNTIL-- my friend told me that the bartender had said that about 75% of the beers on the list, they did not have...huh??????? I mmmeeeeeeannnnnnn...?????? So the first beer I chose, they had...it was really tasty...and thank goodness b/c I ended up drinking THAT beer for the rest of the time we were there! I chose 2 other beers from the list and neither were available. That is stupid, frustrating and just all out ridiculous! I do have props for the little sausage stand near the parking lot though. Pretty tasty food there and very nice folks. And for the folks with dogs, there is a pretty cool place to take your dogs to swim in the water just on the other side of the train tracks. We spent a lot of time there and my dog had a blast!

I've been to this place only a handful of times, but each time gets better and better. The decor is off the wall, with random toys, chandeliers, a ten foot polar bear, yet it's also homey. I always notice something I didn't notice the the last time. I have only ever come here for dinner, which has been awesome every time. The menu is simple, basically steak, crab or lobster. I usually go with the Surf 'n Turf, which is a 1/2 lb of steak and a crab leg that measures about the length of my 4 year old niece's arm. Unfortunately the poor baked potato took the back seat at this meal. The dinner includes all you can eat salad bar and it only sets you back about 25 bucks. It's a great deal for the food and the experience. The cocktails are served in jam jars which fits this quirky place. Dinner is only served fridays and saturdays though! Overall I love this place, the only downside is the lack of doors on the bathroom stalls. I also recommend visiting Port Costa during the day, this little town is somethin' else!
(5)Mikey P.
I love the place, I ride there on sundays just to get away from things. If you're a snob, you wont like it If you're a real person you'll love it
(4)Zetti M.
This bar is so much fun, over 300 different beers. All drinks are doubles and poured into mason jars. I love the fact you can rent a room across the street at the Burlington Hotel inside the bar. You don't want to drink and drive out of this place. Howie the bartender is awesome!
(5)Will H.
It's like a museum for drunks. The big bar room has lots of seating and some really cool artifacts all around to spark conversation. I like sitting at the benches on the raised platform during warm summer nights, watching the boat traffic. When its not so pleasant, you can sit inside at the bar, or around the original round table used by the League of Nations in the early 20th century, or inside a New York subway turnstile (sans doors). If anything catches your eye, just ask the bar tender about it. Oh yea, great beer selection, of course.

My husband and I have been sharing the same grim mood, so it was time to explore. Preferably cheaply, as money (or the lack thereof) is a major contributor to the grim-itude. I found the Warehouse in Port Costa (a town I'd never heard of, even though it's less than 5 miles away) while scanning Google maps. Near the water, check. Near railroad tracks, check. Food, booze, never been there, polar bear - check, check, check, che...polar bear? Honey, get in the car. How to describe the feel of the place? I first flashed on "From Dusk 'til Dawn", and I almost expected to turn the corner to find a scantily-clad Salma Hayak doing her sexy snake dance. Wishful thinking on my part. Although the cafe part is only open on Fridays and Saturdays, there is bar food. In my experience, "bar food" is usually an oxymoron. Not here! The turkey sandwiches were super tasty, and they behaved themselves throughout the entire digestive process. We enjoyed our sandwiches and drinks (I had a sneaky awesome California Lemonade served in a mason jar) in a weird little round structure made of dark wood and glass with a spectacular view of the polar bear. As we munched and worked on getting pleasantly un-sober, I tried to think of what else this place reminded me of. Backstage/storage for an old theater, maybe. There is crushed velvet draped from the ceiling with layers of dust on the folds, and big, spindly iron wall sconces. There are cobwebs. I usually want to fix things - especially beautiful and odd things - but not here. The way it is is just...perfect. I was strongly tempted to write a bad review, just to keep it from getting too crowded. I like it too much, though. Whoever runs such a cool place deserves the business.

Seems like a potential setting for a 1996 action-comedy-horror film, so of course bring a loved one and the possibilities are endless. I didn't have the balls to stay late into the evening primarily because I do not like having my life-blood sucked out of my body through over-sized incisors no matter how hot she may be...well..unless she does it over the course of at least a few years and calls it "getting better." Being so close to the water reminded me of The Lost Boys~ sigh~ I loved that movie. I am sure this place gets "crunk" or whatever is the white people equivalent and I also bet its a lot of fun. We went during the afternoon and it was very quiet...a little too quiet, but it was still fun to get out of Crapa-Napa and venture yonder. I was talking to some old dude a few days after our trip about the Warehouse Cafe area and he was telling me that it has always been sort of a destination spot for those seeking a brief glimpse of The Freakdom. Vampires really don't bother me but you can bet whenever you get a few of those loose characters around, not to mention the Cafe's reasonably priced and delicious buffet, at least a couple Werewolves are soon to follow and I am absolutely intolerant, and without exception scared shitless of those bastards. I am not racist, I just have my limit to what I feel is an acceptable amount of body hair/odor, heavy breathing and lack of manners that I can stand. Italians kinda bother me too but there isn't time here to get into that. "I may be a bastard, but I'm not a fuckin' bastard"

I have come into this bar many times, I think it is a unique and awesome bar and the male bartenders are very friendly and have good customer service. However, tonight, my friend and I walked into the bar to find a woman bartender that I had never seen before. She looked like a witch coming off meth. I decided to go to the warehouse tonight because I wanted to see if they would be interested in making some shots I had in another state, which they would usually do. I went on to ask this woman if she had a couple different kind of liquors, she started to get very irritated and had an arrogant attitude as if she was thinking " how dare these young girls ask me to make them shots with random alcohols". Finally, I asked if we could just have some Duck Farts, she replied with "rookies come in here all the time asking me to make some made up shots, I don't know what a Duck Fart is" I said its not made up, its a real shot. She then started to get visibly aggressive with her body language she grabbed her little drink book and looked up the shot. As she was looking in the book I told her several times that the way the shots are usually made are with crown, baileys, and Kalua. When she finally found the shot in the book, she said it was not made with the same ingredients that I had stated. I said well that is what they are usually made of. She said "fine, I'll make them that way but Im not layering shit". with that, I said I did not want the shots nor did I want anything else. My friend and I gathered our things and started to leave. She refused to make us any sort of drink and had she made one, it would not have been worth a fiddlers fuck. The haggard ass egotistical woman started complaining to her fellow trashy ass bartender claiming that we were whining, wanting this and that. I told her we came to receive good service like I had gotten in the past but that I did not want to spend my money at the bar because she was being a "BITCH". After that, she completely flew off the handle, appalled that I had called her bitch, ignorant to the fact that she was totally being one and was completely out of line, not only on a social level but on a professional level. As we walked out, she picked up a glass and feigned throwing a glass at my face with force. I had to cover my face because I thought her crazy ass would actually throw it. When we got into the parking lot, she was standing in the doorway like she was Michael Meyers out of Halloween waiting to murder us. She proceeded to walk up to us freaking out and threatening us. She wanted to fight and was still so taken aback that we would have the moxie to call her her rightful name. she approached us and threatened, flaunting the fact that she had been "working there for 11 years and it was a biker bar and people come there to see her act like that". Finally we left. All in all, my point is. She should be in a mental institution and should not be allowed to socialize, let alone work in an environment where she will be interacting with customers. My clear opinion is that she is an addle brained, fucking psycho. She should be reprimanded and she is BAD for business.

The warehouse is one BAMFin place. Sundays they have live music and get some free food if you buy a drink. And on Mondays they have potluck so I try to get over there then for some free food. Sierra on tap, plus arrogant bs in the back, this place definitely holds a special place in my heart. Totally laid back atmosphere. THe bartenders are chill and wear funny shirts. "When I feel athletic I go to a sports bar," was one I caught him wearing one night. Cracked me up. The woman bartender is super heavy handed and she will get you fucked up. SHe is hilarious too and got drunk with us last St. Patricks day and flashed us her bra. I'll never forget those knee-seeking missiles. Thanks. I love this place though. Haven't been going nearly enough lately.

I never even knew the name of this place, but I do know I LOVE IT!!! I've been here many times and they were always memorable ones. (And let me be clear, I'm talking about the bar, not the restaurant.) I mean, where else can you get a tour of the walk-in refrigerator and choose from just about any beer you can think of? Where else can you mingle with a bunch of bikers on a warm Sunday afternoon? And where else would you patiently wait for the ladies room while two patrons who clearly just met go have a private moment? These are the kinds of memorable moments I've had at this place. There's always a story or two tell when you're done and lots of fun to be had. That's what keeps me going back to the little town of Port Costa and the bar with the amazing beer selection.
(5)William R.
WOW! I do like this place. If you like time warp horror movie fun and adventure then come here. It really is worth the trip. It is a cavern inside and the crowd is exceptional and friendly. You feel like you are in a movie made by Rob Zombie, and that is no bad thing. Drinks are cheap, the staff is top notch and a polar bear in glass, WHAT?! Have a DD because the drive in and out is a bit treacherous and not at all recommended for the folks that have had some pops. It's best to come here with a crowd of your own to have a great time and experience. If you are so adventurous (or don't have a DD) maybe stay in the insane Hotel that this place runs across the street.
(4)Crissy L.
The bar is a great!. Come as you are, even if its in your pj's. You will still be accepted by all. Great for all ages. Love the Sunday afternoon live bands. The bartenders won't take your BS so BE ready when you order. She reminds me of Mrs Rossini from Who's the Boss. She is hilarious!
(5)Pilar K.
Cheap beers, awesome food and after a few weeks of coming here they know our names. We absolutely love this place!!!
(5)Amy Z.
I came here with a huge group of friends while staying at the Burlington Hotel across the street, and I had a great time. They have something like 400 beers (including my all-time favorite, Black Lion) and have friendly yet slightly surly barkeeps. The place is decorated with some taxidermy specimens, such as a water buffalo head, some sort of elk/deer head, and an epic polar bear standing over a seal which it presumably killed. If you decide to get one of the free Port Costa rings, be sure to do it in the evening -- more accurately, before you're hung over.
(4)Steve G.
It would take Jack London or Kerouac to adequately describe how this warehouse - it truly is a warehouse - can be such an inviting place to visit. The old brick building is enormous, half of it is abandoned or sealed off, and the rest is bar -- a real life "build it over here, Bob" bar. The floor's all crooked. Short people can't get served on the bay side of the bar. Bartenders wouldn't see them. If you order the right drink, the bartender will ring a bell. Can't beat that. They have hundreds of beers. I got a cooler tour. Wow. They've got a dinning room with the biggest round wooden tables you'll ever see. And there's a bear. And the outside is the best. You can choose to sit on a slab of concrete, or on a taller slab of concrete. When live music plays, we bring our own chairs and set up in the yard. The massive Port Costa public parking lot is an extention of the bar so there's always room. If you're on a Harley, you have found home. Harley sweet home. If you like wide open spaces and the freedom to stroll through history wihen you're out clubbing, you've found home. Check out the old theater sign in the yard. What does it say? I have also stayed on many occasions at the Burlington Hotel of sorts across the street. I think it's still open for business. They might even rent you a room cheap across the street if you drink too much and can't drive home. I've been coming to the Warehouse since Juanita ran the place. I think I found it by accident in 1980. I lived in Berkeley and read an article that said "You can live your entire life on San Pablo Boulvard." It wrote about all the stores through five cities. I decided to drive the entire length of San Pablo on my Honda motorcycle. I started in Oakland and ended in Port Costa. Those were the days. Adviso: If you get freaked out easily by the thought of celebrating in an actual warehouse, don't come. This is no frills entertainment. Bring your fishing pole. You can walk to the the waterline and drop a chair.
(5)Mr. K.
My favorite bar in the whole bay-area. Love riding the motorcycle down there in the summer time and relaxing!
(5)Laura F.
LOTS to look at, awesome beer selection, stout mixed drinks, Internet jukebox, a pool table and food. Oh, and interesting locals.
(4)Bourbon Explorer R.
The bar is a divey spot with weird antiques on the walls, A stuffed polar bear, and other relics. The attraction is not that that you can get a few limited beers (mostly bud and coors) on tap. It is that you can go to the walk in cooler toward the back and choose from many US microbrews and imports from German, Belgium and England. The place is a beer mecca unbeknownst to most. Also they do bbq which is an awesome accompaniment to beer as I'm sure you all know.
(5)Eli M.
Fantastic, hidden "biker" bar. The decor is fun and tastefully tacky. It's in a creepy little town called "Port Costa" and features an old 19th century prostitute brothel turned hotel next door. There are 300 or more beers to choose from so it's a fun place for sure. I've read the previous reviews about the girl getting mugged and I feel terrible for her. The parking lot definetley is a bit "sketchy" and dark. My only recommendation is to travel with several friends since the lighting is rather poor.

Beer, and a tub of popcorn, and a little friendly, laid-back, impolite conversation in a cavernous funky ol' bar at the end of a country road terminating in an unpaved, slightly junky, but sunny parking lot on the banks of the Carquinez Strait on a lazy Memorial Day...how much more Sixties can one get? Glo, my mother-in-law, and fairly new resident of Hercules, showing off her latest discoveries in the area, drove us to Port Costa and to the doorstep of this establishment on Memorial Day, taking us through the town of Crockett, along a windy road named the "Carquinez Strait Scenic Drive," then taking a fork in the road marked by a sign pointing to the "Port Costa Business District" and another sign informing us that this road was "Not a Through Street." Indeed it was not. The road ended in an unpaved parking lot beyond which ran the Amtrack line to Sacramento and then the Carquinez Strait flowing by beyond that. The "Business District" consisted of four buildings at the end of the street housing 6 businesses, one (the Warehouse Cafe) of which was actually opened for business on this Memorial Day. Because it was not Sunday.. they were not serving their apparently famous free sunday lunch with purchase of beer.. no matter.. When Gina the bartender noticed us wandering around exploring the space and the paraphernalia contained within.. she took us on a short tour.. directly to a sizeable walk-in fridge containing,so their sign claims.. 400 plus brands of beer, stout, and ale.. We were tempted to try the "Chocolate Stout.." but opted instead for the "Oatmeal Stout.." Cuz it sounded healthier. (and, of course, soda for the teenagers in our company) Because we were with minors, Gina did not sit us at the bar, but sat us at a huge round table, which, she claimed, once stood table-clothed and in posher surroundings in San Francisco, and around which, once sat diplomats of the old League of Nations just prior to the dis-bandment of that body and the establishment of the United Nations.. No reason for her to lie.. and besides that, she then plunked down two huge tubs of popcorn for us to munch on with our beer and sodas.. so what the hell..
(5)Ruth B.
If this were any other restaurant, I would give it 1 star, but the WareHouse Cafe is in a league of its own. This is definitely a one of a kind experience and when family or friends visit, we like to take them here. It was especially convenient when we lived in Crockett. It is dirty and the women's bathroom has no stall doors, so I have to hold it until I get home. But, the Prime Rib, the beer selection, and the otherworldlyness of this place make it a 5-star experience almost every time. Okay the one time we did come on a Sunday for the free BBQ, we were having a pleasant enough experience until some young, drunk dude lost his lunch all over the outside deck--we left immediately after that. I do lose my tolerance for any amount of quaintness in the presence of vomit. But, you cannot beat the warm, starry Saturday nights with good friends, good beer, excellent prime rib, and mushrooms sauteed in wine sauce.
(5)Lynnie P.
A great place to bring friends. I love Sundays - FREE salad bar with the purchase of a beer! I think there are over 300 beers to choose from. There's bbq if you don't want the salad bar (which consists of salads, chili, clam chowder). BBQ is links, chicken, tri tip or a combo of all three. My $8 got a HUGE plate of tri tip with baked beans and bread. Service is slow. Lots of bikers. Great live bands play on Sundays. It'll be hard, but bring a DD or try not to drink too much because the road to this place is curvy.
(4)Betty D.
I had been told to go to this place by two people who are polar opposites..... So, I gave it a try and I LOVE IT!!! We went on a Sunday when they have the "free" food and a live band. My friend and I hung out all day and had our own beer fest (since I didn't make it for the Boonville Beer Fest - another story for another day). The female bartender (who could have been my grandmother ... with a slightly naughtier use of verbiage) showed my friend and I to the cooler to pick out our beers instead of showing us a list!! I agree with someone who said the service is a little slow .... it's more than a little slow - it's really really slow but there are only two bartenders and lots of people to hydrate. At the end of the day my friend and I decided to try one of their many cocktails. We tried the Sand on my Ass (peach schnapps, vodka, cranberry juice) - wow. We weren't buzzed until we had one of those!!! Thanks, Larry!!! Besides the beer, the people watching is another reason to try this place. There are all sorts - bikers, pot smokers, yuppies, etc. Just grab a beer and watch the show. I'll be back ...... soon!
(5)Casey C.
This place is so cool. We came on a Thursday and they only have full dinner on Friday and Saturday - and a barbecue lunch on Sunday afternoon. It seemed like there were mostly just locals there and everyone was having a great time joking around with each other. They had a pretty extensive beer list, but only half were in stock and just three beers on tap. The bartender just ended up taking me to the back to pick something out. They still had a lot of beers though - and some great ones at that. And I couldn't believe how cheap everything was! Belgian beers for $4? What?? Although they don't have full dinner during the week, they do have hot dogs for $3 and turkey sandwiches for $7. But the real strength of this place is the atmosphere. It's in the middle of nowhere and the rolling hills on the way there are just incredible. As soon as you take the last curve, you go back in time to a town that's something out of an old movie. It's like an old ghost town, but still running! The Warehouse Cafe could just as easily be mistaken for an abandoned building, and when you step in, you get that old musty wood smell and a million antiques, signs, collectibles and tons of random stuff all over the place. Grab a beer and just walk around. It's like traveling back in time! There are very few places like this in California - if any. A must see for sure!
(5)Alex P.
Stuffed polar bear, double sided beer menu, pool table and one of them jukebox thingys. My buddies and I love it here. This is the place I dreamed about as a kid.
(5)Chris K.
I first learned about this place when my grandpa was telling me about a giant polar bear he shot in the 60's. He offered to take us to see it and eat dinner. He was pleasantly surprised with the Prime rib. He said he hasn't found a Prime Rib as good as this place. He knows since he use to cook it for a living at the Elegant Farmer in Oakland. I wish this place was closer, as I would come here more often This is my favorite Bar. It has some interesting decorations with 400 beers to choose from. Gotta love drinking out of a mason jar.! Tip: They pour their drinks strong so you might need to get a room in the historic hotel across the street for $20.00 .. Ask for the sixty niner special. 2 meals and a hotel room all for $69.00. Only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday, the bar is open 7-days a week!

I have to second the opinion that if "The Warehouse" wasn't "The Warehouse", it would be a "1 star". But, the Warehouse IS the Warehouse - and it's 5 Stars. Read the reviews - funky, eclectic, unique, one of a kind - use whatever words you can describe to the decor - it's kind of like Hard Rock Cafe, but instead of "famous people's stuff" on the walls and ceiling, it's got stuff that you might buy on a whim at a moving sale, an auction, or maybe as a teenager on a high school party night, you might have thought that "that street sign" would look good in your bedroom? It's here, now. Just had to have a 10 ft stuffed polar bear and you saw one at a moving sale? Someone bought it, and it's here. Entertained the thought of having an old "Playland at the Beach" ticket booth. Yep, it's here, too. Right near the Last Supper wall tapestry....... And that's 2% of the STUFF....... Friday - Saturday evenings are hopping, with live local music East Bay country / rock (sometimes) - or, the jukebox of 1,000,000 songs. Pool table. Free water. Don't play on the train tracks. The famous "sloping bar floor". Sundays noon in summer = good BBQ - and it's a destination spot for motorcyclists in the afternoon. The weekend eve crab and prime rib are always, well, "magnificent" and if the kitchen is closed, Howie or Larry will make you up a hot dog or a cheese plate with ~50 "2 packs" of Saltines. Well, it IS the Warehouse and after 1 pint sized drink, Saltines are just peachy! I ALWAYS bring my "out of state" visiting friends here and convince them that this is the REAL California, and not that wacky stuff they see on CNN in San Francisco......... We spent our first night in the Burlington Hotel across the street on New Years eve 2010. $99 for steak and crab dinner for 2 with hotel included! WOW! We brought our own poppers and party hats and gave them out to the rest of the patrons. Read the reviews about the hotel - Priceless event. Rumor is, that if you've imbibed excessively - check with the bar tender to see if you can get a room. CG

I came here on the suggestion of my friend Karsten. We had planned on heading up to the North Coast Brewing Co. to sample some PranQster Ale and get a tour, but opted to wait until the Skunktrain Beer Tasting in May. Alright, slightly off-topic... but the point is, the WAREHOUSE was an excellent alternative! As other's have already mentioned, great atmosphere & friendly people. We also got a peek into the beer fridge (i'll add some photos) where we were able to pick out our own bottles. Lots of German, British & Belgian beers in stock. There's even one from Tahiti! I had a PranQster, a 10.5% Gulden Draak, and a rare 14% Samichlaus Bier (once the strongest beer in the world). Dee-lish.

it sucks to give such a low rating to one of my favorite bars. the warehouse is a special place but i need to issue a warning about the area. we had a big group there last saturday night for a friend's birthday. the bar staff was awesome in accommodating our crew and we all stayed over at the burlington hotel across the street, which is owned by the same people. my friend went out to her car after the warehouse cafe was closed and was accosted by a crew of teenagers. they stole her purse and beat her ruthlessly kicking her repeatedly in the face. there were even several people in the parking lot and still this attack went unnoticed until the attackers fled. she suffered injuries to the face and cuts all around her head. the parking lot is right at the end of both the warehouse cafe and the burlington hotel and is very dark at night. the lot is totally secluded and therefore seemed pretty safe. they need to install lights! while this attack is the fault of no one but these assholes, i feel that lights in the parking lot would help keep the area safe for patrons. like i said, i do love the bar but i don't feel comfortable coming back unless that lot feels better monitored.
(1)Tiffany J.
Hell ya!!! This place rocks...the beer, the people, the bartenders and the history....I highly recommend getting all banged up at this joint!!
(5)Jen S.
I have 2 words for you: Howie and beer. Howie is the delightful bartender who greeted the three of us when we walked in on a Thursday night around 6 and had no idea what to expect. The first time at the bar for all of us, and we were the only ones there at the time. Oh my gosh. How I love Howie. Charming, personable, and downright adorable! This place has atmosphere for days. There is the famous polar bear and a bunch of other stuff to look at on the walls. And beer. Beer, beer, and more beer. I don't know how many they have, but bunches and bunches from many different microbreweries. I didn't know what I wanted, I just told Howie I liked wheat beers, and he gave me some good suggestions. I would love to see what this place is like with a lot of people there. Loved the patio. We chilled out there for a bit and watched sailboats on the Carquinez Strait. It was our first time at the Warehouse but it most certainly will not be our last!
(5)Richard B. F.
I heard about this place through a few friends a patients at work. What got me interested about this place is that they supposedly have 350 beers on their menu. Me and my girlfriend went there late at night after having dinner at The Nantucket in Crockett. It's 1.5 miles of dark windy rode and at this time of year, it was also foggy. Port Costa is a small town and almost looks like a horror movie setting when driving at night. When we got to the place the parking lot was PACKED! From the outside it looked like no one was inside the building. When we got in there was alot of people. Had a few beers, surprisingly ran into a few familiar faces and we were on our way back home. This place did have a hugh beer menu. I don't know if it's 350, but it's close. I would definitely go back and try the rest of the beers on the menu. As a matter of fact my goal is to try all the beers this year.
(4)Mike R.
Okay, for those of you who like my reviews I'm going to let you in on a great little secret: The Warehouse in Port Costa is the coolest bar this side of Berkeley. Where else can you find a stuffed polar bear in a glass encasement? Or a shop selling weird "collectibles" that only an insane person would want? Or feature arcade games from the eighties in a back hallway? This place is what every bar should aspire to be. A rustic, eccentric, eclectic setting down by the waterside. The Warehouse boasts the best beer selection in the east bay with choices from around the world. Weekends feature fun and tasty barbeques beset by bikers and every now and again you get lucky and catch the place serving lobster or prime rib. This is truly an odd venue. That's, in part, what makes it so wonderful.
(5)Michelle R.
Beer, beer, & more beer! I absolutely love this place. If it's your first visit, ask for a quick tour of the beer cooler...it will give any true beer lover a warm feeling inside. I don't remember the exact number, but there were something like 400 different types of beer to choose from, and it is my personal goal to try them all. I've never actually eaten here, though I've heard its good. Just make sure to have a driver...that road is far too difficult to navigate with beer goggles.
(5)Pete T.
Great place, been coming here for years. If you are the person who bought the owl neclace from the antique store, contact me!
(5)Jennifer J.
Went there for the first time 4/17/2011. Great bunch of people. Great live music "billy martini band". Great drinks Cant wait to go back!

Heheheh.... The Warehouse in Port Costa is a definite gem. If you're a hardcore Harley biker, sports bike rider, tourist, or just boating in from across the straight.... come on in. Sure it is a little back woods... maybe a little gritty. Trust me, they cleaned up over the past 10 years. But for you beer connoisseurs, you will not be disappointed. Look for the menu.. the beer menu... listing about 80 beers.
(5)Trevor N.
What a cool joint! Definitely out of the way, but well worth the drive. Great food, and good drinks. One of the most eclectic places i've been to. This is just plain of those places you have to try for yourself.
(4)Rachel B.
I love this place! It's got such character and the people there have always been super friendly. I love the fact that I can order any beer off their 400+ beer menu and they always have it. I love how the bar is so high in one corner it makes you feel like a little kid again. My fiance and I are planning to have the after-wedding party here and then everyone can crash across the street at the Burlington Hotel.

Okay, so we hung out at the Warehouse Cafe by default since it's one of only two restaurant/bars in town. The food was not great, but certainly not bad. Your choice of steak, crab and/or lobster plaus baked potato, soup and salad bar. Not bad for only $25 bucks or so. I had a steak, which was mediocre. The soups were great, though. We were there with a party of eight celebrating a birthday, so after dinner we moved into the bar area and proceeded to get our drink on. We were a pretty rowdy bunch, but the staff were all very cool and understanding, plus we were tipping great. The drinks were kind of on the expensive side, but oh well. When at the Warehouse Cafe you're kind of at their mercy. One of the bartenders took us into the beer locker. They boast that they have 400 beers, but I would have guessed more like 150 at best. Good times, decent food, and a stuffed polar bear. can you really ask for anything more?
(4)Justin N.
This place has been hyped up by some friends. It lived up to the set expectations. Lets list the reasons why: HUGE bowl of popcorn arrived at the table, shortly after we did. $2.75 Bud Light. Dogs and Hot Dogs. Over 400 beers. Raunchy old bartender lady. Mason jars to drink out of. Junk. More important than a list, is the experience. It wasn't free bbq day, there was no band, still was a great day. DD mandatory.

I drove into the middle of nowhere, and when I started to feel doubtful, kept going. Passed through a deserted ghost town where the houses look forlorn and shut- evidently only vampires live here. Stopped at the end of a dirt road in a gravel lot next to train tracks and the delta. Grotty old faded building with battered paint peeling doors and windows. Inside the dim interior houses a bar, a stuffed snarling polar bear diorama -complete with half rotted stuffed seal, dogs playing poker tapestries, pin ball machines, a fortune teller, cobwebs and fringed light fixtures, and a motley collection of local old timers, spandex'd cyclists, bearded motor cyclists and people who're just plain lost. You'll appreciate the endless list of exotic beer- If you're lucky Gina will take you back to the walk-in beer cooler, which when it opens has a faint pearly glow and sounds of angels singing hosanna. The menu is generally limited to dogs, turkey and "cheese", but on Sundays expands to a full BBQ accompanied by a live band and "free" (if you buy a drink before noon) sides -where salad is defined as macaroni, potato or coleslaw. Service is gruffly nonchalant casual, you have to keep track of your own tab. Juke box has (according to my friend) an excellent selection of tunes. Pick the right one and the staff will all howl and turn the volume UP! Definitely a must for beer aficionados- if you like Toronado, you'll love the Warehouse Cafe.
(4)Sasha V.
I love this bar. Have been wanting to visit for a while but had not had a chance and it is now my favorite spot to go to after work. It is off the beaten path and you would never know its there unless someone took you. All the bartenders are great and friendly. I love going into the beer fridge and trying to choose which beer I am going to have. The selection is amazing and I have had every single beer they carry and most beer geeks will probably be able to say the same thing but trying to choose from the list is very difficult. Just wanted them all!!! The whole decor and atmosphere is laid back and you feel like you are in an old cowboy town. Part of me wants to say bad things and give it one star just to keep the place to myself but I decided I would share.
(5)Alice L.
They really have zillion beers. Decors are very cool, friendly people. Slow service:9( Giant Polar Bear is always amazing. I wish they would offer more choice on their dinner menu. I had a hot dog at the bar, it's really reasonablly priced (but it's microwaved with no condiment). I'll say food part is a three stars, rest is five, hence the total of 4 star rating. Second visit: Bartender let me go into the walk-in fridge......full of beers!! very neat!
(4)Randall B.
This place is AWESOME! Amazing beer selection, super friendly staff, and great vibe all around. We didn't stay and try the food, but we can't wait to go back and book the hotel across the street and really do this place up right.
(5)Nona K.
Stopped by there this evening and just wanted a beer. So Barbara the bartendar said, 'follow me to the cooler'. I thought that was pretty neat, going behind the scenes a little. I thought I was in BevMo for a minute with the selection of beers they had! I settled for a Banana Bread one. Pretty good! I love the Polar Bear, Alligator head, various stuffed animals decorating the place. Yes, a windy road, that you have to drive a couple of times to get familiar with. Gravel parking lot and train tracks to put some quarters on right behind it. Beautiful view of the Benicia bridge and Benicia. Was informed of the spring/summer Sunday BBQ's that I will be going back for! Watch out for the potholes that'll swallow you up when you are waving at the passing Amtrak train.
(4)Brooke N.
Taxidermied Polar Bear Encased in Glass. Hanging Mallard Decoys. Salty Popcorn on the Bar. More Mullets Than You Know What to do With. A Walk-In Beer Fridge Full of Endless Beverage Possibilities (that I make a point to visit each time I go). A Hidden, Sleepy, Quaint Town and a Bar Filled with Mostly Townies. Adventure. Intrigue. A Review Written in Capital Letters for No Reason at All. Visit the Warehouse - You'll Thank Me for it!
(5)Lucy A.
I I've always said I wanted to go there sometime around Halloween because Port Costa definitely has an other world occult-ish kind of feel to it which I just LOVE. I would have to stay at the spooky old hotel across the street - the one everyone's saying used to be a brothel - just to enhance the whole experience. Maybe 2010 will be the year I actually do it. If you go, notice the picture on the wall - the one that has all these people seated around a table, except for one seat which is curiously empty.
(5)Felecia R.
I was really taken back initially by how much in a time warp this place really looked, however after I let my guard down and got comfortable I had a great time. The dsrinks really are great, and generous in size and liquor! The surf and turf here was pretty damn good as well!

Information is now quick, easy, and cheap. With the Web 2.0 and catholic indexing of knowledge, precious little cannot be called up on screen, and i had always treated The Warehouse that way, secretly. In the twelve years since i graduated from the local high-school (in "neighboring" Crockett), the number of people whom i've brought to Port Costa has remained countable on two hands. But, like Mississippi John Hurt playing his local juke-joint for over 30 years before finding the fame he justly deserved, The Warehouse seems to be getting its due. If you must, pull in on a summer's Sunday --mindful, natch, of the bikes--and drink out of masonry jars, maybe have some barbecue, perhaps there's a band. The trains will roll past, the locals will stroll in. If you're feeling saucy, you could smoke a bowl deeper into the parking lot, which is really a rutted clearing. Enjoy the saloonish clutter. Wistful now, in search of lost time; the tastes of beer and madeleines. Who am i kidding? Forty years ago my folks drove out from Berkeley to drink from the same jars that i drink from, from which--if justice and rightness exist in this world--my children will also drink. Wink; cheers.
(5)Erik U.
WHAT WORLD DID I JUST STEP INTO. First impressions, there is a giant polar bear murdering a seal in a glass case. This place looks like a curiosities shop from 1920. There are plenty of drink selections and some of the better views of the sunset sitting right on the water. Now that I have some more free time, I plan on making this place a frequent stop. I am still trying to figure out how to swim or zip line over the water from benicia to the bar. Working on it.
(5)tery c.
Character character character... my husband brought me here while dating.. definitely has a slightly wilder feel here. Finding it is half of the fun! BBQ's on Sundays, bikers in abundance... giant polar bear.. outdoor seating, carnival like decor... and a beer cellar. Lithuanian beer..MMMM Great to watch the water or people...
(5)Sasha T.
Port Costa is a weird place. I also think it is magical and there might be trolls living in the hills. Just maybe. I highly recommend checking out "THE WAREHOUSE". They have eleventy million different types of beer from all over the world. I'm sure the drive is much less terrifying during the day. The decor is baffling, but in a totally awesome way. Fans of "Lost" will appreciate the life sized stuffed polar bear hanging out in the seating area. A note about the service: if you're not a regular, or blessed with certain endowments, or look surly enough, be prepared to wait a loooooong time. But it's actually part of the charm. No, for reals!
(5)Alan O.
This place was awsome. Had that classic dive bar-home style backyard thing going. Nothing foo-foo and just a relaxing type of place. No trouble. Beer in a mason-jar and that old classic Americana feel. What more can you have? A Band...yes a band...they do have bands that play there and we were lucky to have one playing when we arrived. Great if you ride too... seems rough but its just a place where down to earth types seem to flock to.
(4)David S.
It was my friend Chris K. (see his review here also ) who brought me to this place to show me the polar bear his grandfather shot which is on display there in a glass case. Very cool place, I would like to come again sometime, but you may need a GPS or something to get there, it is way out in nowhere and at one point we thought we were lost. We had drinks and dinner plus the all-you-can-eat salad buffet, and they had some nice soups including my favorite, clam chowder. I ordered the Lobster dinner after having chosen one in the lobster tank. I actually thought a freshly prepared lobster would be the ultimate but I was surprised to find it a bit chewy. However I don't think I'd order that dish again because it was very expensive (market price).
(5)Jason W.
For character and being truly unique this place is a must visit if you are in the area. Don't expect a five star meal or a white table cloth but this place is cool. The food is great but the atmosphere is truly something. From a stuffed polar bear to the rooms upstairs that used to be used as a brothel and about 350 beers to choose from you gotta go hear if you are ever in Port Costa. This place is one of a kind.
(4)Jessica C.
I love the Warehouse- YUM! I love the salad bar, clam chowder, prime rib, shrimp scampi, and the mushrooms (especially). The atmosphere is mellow, and the food is extraordinary. Please allow yourself the pleasure of enjoying some time outside after your dinner... the local crowd, sounds of the bay, and trains will put your mind in a different place. I hear that Sundays with live music are fantastic as well.
(4)Captain V.
I used to live in this small town in Bavaria that was famous for its Rauchbier (literally "smoked beer"). I used to hate the shit. It tasted like I was drinking a loaf of salami. Definitely an acquired taste. Never did I think that I would ever see that beer again, but the Warehouse Cafe has it! I was shocked as anyone, and it was a purely random coincidence that brought me to this bar in the first place. Being a person of color, I was a little leary of the place at first. Looks like a biker bar at first. But after closer examination of the interior and surroundings, I think the best description for it would be that it's like a setting for a Stephen King novel, specifically The Shining. Or a David Lynch movie. It's in the middle of nowhere, and you'd swear you were lost until you find it. It could be an adventure just getting there. Great place. It's definitely got personality. Service is cool, and everyone is laid back. I bring all of my out of town visitors there if I have time. Food is OK, a little overpriced, but you don't go here for the food. The beer's the thing here. If you like beer, and you like a variety of beer, and you like a variety of international beer, this place is for you.
(5)Daniella E.
Back in the day my now hubby took me here for a date....dinner and then a night stay at the Burlington Hotel across the street. That was back in '99 and I still love going there today. It's an awesome bar packed with cool people and a ridiculously large selection of beer- and it makes it the perfect spot!!! Port Costa is filled with history and its one of the best hidden dives around! ;) If you're looking for a great time- check this place out. Even the oddities store inside is cool! Just go.... have you left yet??? See you there!!!
(5)Carol S.
After waiting a while for the bartender to notice us, we ordered a couple of hot dogs, as advertised on the board, only to be told, "no food." This was a Sunday about 4 p.m. I used to really love this place. It's still got atmosphere, but "no food" is a no-no. The only thing edible was a small bag of potato chips. We've been here other times over the years, sometimes when the high-priced restaurant was open, once when they had a nice buffet, and other times just eaten a hot dog or other bar food. But to be told "no food" at all was really a first. We took our chips out to the water and watched the boats go by, and listened to the waves slap the shore... and thought about going someplace else next time we're passing through the area.

In the Wizard of Oz, one follows the yellow brick road, but tucked on the other side of the Berkeley Hills, just outside of the tiny hamlet of Crockett at the foot of the Carquinez Bridge, one follows Pomona Street until it turns into barely one-lane Carquinez Scenic Drive to one of Northern California's best bars. Favored by bands of bikers on weekends, the large bar and attached restaurant owned by a Czech family also doubles as a venue for rock concerts. On Sundays throughout the summer, the patio offers many relaxing spots to enjoy their (Sunday) barbecue and to lose yourself watching ships floating into the bay. If you look hard enough the town of Benicia lies across the shore, sometimes at night the city baseball field lights pierce the night sky. The true testament of this pub lies in its kitsch, the mind numbing arrays of beer that are offered, the friendly locals and the fact that draught beers are served in mason jars. On a recent trip on a particularly warm evening, the bartender took me and a friend to the back of the bar and into their massive cooler -- the Fort Knox of beer cellars. Instead of mint bullion, this immense holding tank yields liquid gold in the form of beers across the globe. I have never seen such a diverse list of beers from almost any country you could throw a dart at.
(5)Mary B.
This place deserves a field trip with many swarthy individuals. I was in awe the whole time - although nothing came of the date, i'm glad i was introduced to this place.
(5)V M.
The Warehouse is a wondrous building filled with all sorts of oddities. I've been there many times with friends only because of the huge selection of beer from all over the world. The food is way too expensive for the quality that you get. The bartender and staff are very friendly and helpful On Saturdays, there are usually bikers hanging out. If that makes you uncomfortable, head out on a Friday night. I would have given it 1 star for the cockroaches that scamper around the bar...and yes, I've seen them with my own eyes but the wide selection of beer is just too cool to pass up and earned them that second star. Go for the beer, not the food...stay away from the pretzels.
(2)SHANNON A.
The polar bear is awesome but the poor baby seal it's looming over has seen better days. So have some of the women frequenting this bar.
(4)M'Lisa K.
Coolest place to hang, have a killer Long Island Iced Tea or peruse the amazingly long beer list, listen to the East Bay's best jukebox and watch the locals play pool. Think "the haunted mansion" meets wierd local museum. Giant polar bear in glass in the corner, free popcorn, nice breeze off the Carquinez Strait and incredible blues bands and bbq on Sunday afternoons when the weather gets nice. My Husband and I come here to unwind, and because technically it is a restaurant, we can bring our toddler as long as we sit at a table and not the bar. Been coming here since I was a tot myself, and certainly Port Costa has seen better days, but we still love this place for the laid back bent. We miss the goth meets glam bartender Souxie though.
(4)William D.
This place is hilaroius......Cobb webbs all over the place so you can tell it has lots of stories....I was there for a co-workers wedding dinner we had lobster tail & the steak on the dinner menu & both were damm good, plenty of food. The bar has a bunch of different beers & they make the mixed drinks stiff..Lots of bikers to hang out with / drink with in the summer.
(4)Valerie V.
dive dive dive. but that's a good thing in my book. the only thing better than a stiff drink is a meal waiting for you just steps away. and what could be better with a good meal than a sassy waitress. and then another stiff drink after dinner. the food is pretty decent. mostly seafood. and i think some beef. mmm. surf and turf. now that's better than a stiff drink. the drive there (and away) is scary. don't wear open toed shoes. the parking lot is gravel. always a blast going there.
(4)Andy M.
Mysterious, spooky, perhaps even altogether ooky. No other Bay Area joint matches the experience here. Come for lunch - just the effort of getting here and feeling semi-certain that you are in the right spot makes the trip worth it. The Bay Area seems many miles away. The raucous bikers and spaghetti feeds might make you think you somehow slipped into Hazzard County, but the cold beer and the view of the Carquinez straight makes it feel quite homey.
(4)Joe J.
This former sugar town and landing-as-port leaves us with a warehouse needing a use. Problem solved. Antique building, antique pinball machines, antique furnishings, antique environs, dirt parking lot and interesting artsy little area make for a new experience each time I go. Sparse schedule and short traditional American menu provide good dinner, and the bar has had more beers than this admirer can sample in a year, while the ... uh... ambiance... I think...;-) reminds one of times long past. The bar patio is especially nice for long warm weekend afternoons. I love it.
(5)Margaret F.
Where else can you sit outside with a beer, watching a train pass by with boats in the background? Oh - and add to that the ambiance of bikers, working class people, couples on dates, locals, old farts and young hipsters all sitting around enjoying the brews, views, and the conversation? - priceless. The bands are some of my favorite draws on a Sunday summer afternoon. I've been out there many times shaking my money-maker. Love the owners. Love the bartenders. Love the patrons that enjoy the vortex alongside me. Sometimes I don't even drink alcohol when I visit, so my judgment is not clouded by hops. There is one thing I have to say. I'm not too fond of the people who bring their little kids or their dogs out there. I don't think they need to be exposed to barroom behavior. Keep them home. I know, I know, it's a restaurant too. Then eat inside and don't have your little darlings running around the rest of us who might be trying to kick back.
(5)Amery W.
Ahhhhh the Warehouse, how I love thee. You have given my family a reason to sail our leaky boat across the straights. You have given us stories to intertain our children with. You have made us so drunk that we don't remember the stories and created our own. For that, I thank you.
(5)Cindy E.
this is likely the best bar in the whole world. they didn't have abita beer but they did play old school cajun blues for me as a sympathy prize. super friendly and super awesome. reminds me a lot of smitty's in bolinas.
(5)Tracy J.
Would have loved to rate it, went based on everyone's review. We just couldn't get any service. There is no where to sit and wait for your table except the bar and since neither my husband or my self drink we didn't feel comfortable sitting in the bar. we waited outside for over 30 minutes. It seemed like we would see people go in after us and get a table. I would check every 15 minutes but even though the restaurant wasn't that crowded it seemed like the tank top wearing hostess/server was too busy to worry about us waiting outside so we left. Mabye we'll try again mabye not.
(1)Aric W.
5 stars for uniqueness. They have a giant polar bear, lobsters, a nice view on a warm evening. good food and great drinks. Good for groups and a fun outing. Its an adventure going down into port costa. View of the bay and benicia from the patio. I think there was some kind of swingers meeting at the hotel across the streat one night we were down there. Mysterious and cool.
(5)Paul P.
Really enjoy this place. Great atmosphere, jukebox, beer selection and a full bar. I heard from a friend who lives in Crockett that this place is closing? Please tell me it ain't so! I'll miss my fav watering hole!!
(5)YaYa K.
Do you dare to drive down a creepy road out in the boonies, to a little town with a hidden gem called the Warehouse Cafe'. Just keep your high beams on, don't look up the hills to see if an axe murderer is up there, and just try to find this place. There aren't a lot of road signs there, but its by the water. Its like a old antique cabin with a huge stuffed white polar bear, huge chalk board, booths and weird decor. Its different, not too crowded, and people are nice there. Here is what won me over. Imagine this, a beer menu, that is probably 10 x 12, double sided, with font size of 10 on beers from all over the world. ALL OVER THE WORLD. They carry everything, so if you are a huge beer coniseur, then go here. Oh, and try their mixed drinks too., . .its listed on the chalk board. I mean, a root beer float, that really taste like a root beer float, but loaded with spirits. Definitely a fun place to hang out with a group of friends. . .just make sure to have a DD when you drive home in the dark.
(4)Jen W.
This is an off the beaten track adventure that will provide a lot of entertainment. The place is on the water and the beer selection is awesome, the people watching is delightful and the decor is like nothing you have seen (think bear, big bear). Go check it out, have a beer, lunch, you will know what I am talking about.
(5)Gretchen H.
Awesome and fun!! Crazy place with great beers.
(5)Victoria M.
Great place to be casual and just hang and play pool, with the hugest selection of beers anywhere around. My beef is with the food menu - nothing under $20 a plate, mostly right around $25 a plate. 5 star prices at a casual, dirt on the floor, dust on everything, chug down a beer and play some pool hang out??? If I wanted to pay that much for dinner I'd go to SF. So if you're hungy for more than just beer and you're on a budget plan to split something.
(3)Mark G.
This place was originally set up by the late Juanita Mussonn ( spelling) she was famous for the old Juanita's Galley in Sausalito in the 60's. The bear and all the stuff was hers, and she ran the Burlington hotel across the street. You could go eat a Prime rib dinner ( the best in the Bay Area) then stay in a room. The doors had names of women instead of numbers. We liked Margaret ( round bed -red satin) . It is a Twilight- Zone experience. I'm glad to see it's still around. My favorite object was a doll on a swing up at the ceiling. The orig place had a killer blue cheese dressing. As for the neighborhood, there's way worse, don't be alone after 2 a.m.. This is not for your Olive Garden types. Rude crude and great food!
(4)JJ C.
It is the perfect sunny Sunday drive to this off beat joint full of bikers and day trippers. This city is a hidden historic gem serving up fine BBQ, stiff drinks and and amazing beer selection. I've seen the beer cooler and it's insane. 5 stars for old timers, conversation, giant polar bear and antique atmosphere. Outdoor patio seating and live music on most weekends. Come early for the BBQ they sell out early. Very friendly service and good for groups.
(4)Larisa S.
I first came to the Warehouse Cafe with my dad for an ECV event when I was sixteen and I've been in love with it ever since. Since I am not a drinker and can't comment on it's ridiculous assortment of beers from all over the world I can only comment on the atmosphere -- which is AMAZING. I love the big, worn smooth wooden tables, the crazy tilt of the slatted floors, the junkyard/back patio and the large, moth eaten polar bear. It's a great place ot people watch on the weekends and an even better place to have a get-together on a weeknight -- the jukebox and large tables are pretty much yours and you really can't beat a dollar game of pool. They also make one of the best Bloody Marys I've ever had. So have a couple of drinks and admire the greatness that is Port Costa.
(5)rachel k.
after the first time I went here- i swore I'd go back and it wouldnt actually exist. like jumping into some crazy time warp at the end of the long and windy road. but we went back and it was real, and i was oh so happy!! you rock, warehouse cafe.
(5)A M.
It is funny I have been going to the Warehouse for over 15 years at least maybe more. My first trip out there was as a child when the legendary Juanita held court there, my Mom use to go out there and hang out with friends and have lunch and drinks. Well, that was many years ago... Jacob and Ivana who currently own it and the Bull Valley Inn have really turned this place around. They have had it for about 10 years now and have made it the most motorcycle friendly establishment in the Bay Area, next to the Zeitgeist. When they started bringing in live music on Sunday's and BBQ that rivals Flint's they were doing something right. It has always been that Sunday's are the best day at the Warehouse motorcyclists from all over stop in to have a drink and lunch which is free if you by a drink on Sunday. Gina the head bartender (hey girl!) who can make a seriously good bloody mary will always have a smile for you and runs the bar like no other. I love this place and I am out there every Sunday to catch up with friends after going for a ride in the morning. The roads in and out are a bit goatee, but if I can manage it anyone can. Make sure to get gas in Crockett or Martinez as there is nothing out there. Saturday's are the only night they serve dinner which is good if you are ready for a food coma.
(5)H. S.
You're in for a treat.....even the windy 2 way road that you need to take to get the the Warehouse is awesome with its views of the Carquinez Strait. There's a lot to look at when you get inside, but all you need to do is find your way to the bar and hopefully to a vacant stool. There's menus lying around with no less than 80 beers listed. They're divided into country of origin and then further subdivided by brewery. I saw 2 guys order the same beer and then discuss it like it was a fine wine. I'm not quite to that level, but no matter what your beer knowledge, a fun time can be had by all who visit. We asked to look at their food menu and the only options were seafood meals starting at 19.99. We decided to stick with the free popcorn.
(5)D G.
Sunday lunch- sunny, breeze off the Sacramento, Benicia views, buy a drink-salad bar is free.
(5)Ivy M.
Anyone who's known me for a while understands that I have a thing for Polar Bears. Not a fetish, or anything disturbing like that. But I just find them to be awesome creatures. And that's one of the main reasons I love this place. There's nothing like looking at a 7 foot taxidermied ursus maritimus when you've chugged down half a dozen beers. Sundays are the best time to go - especially in the summer. Live music until five, a kick-ass barbecue and an all-you-can-eat brunch salad bar that's completely free if you buy a beer. (Their claim to fame is that they offer over 400 different types of beers.) But be warned that if you don't like traveling down winding roads in the middle of nowhere, loud Harley's, the sound of Amtrak trains passing by and happen to be a vegetarian . . . you might not like this place on a Sunday. Save the trip for the lobster dinners which I hear are pretty awesome.
(4)Audrey B.
nothin like a sea of bikers and free food on sundays in the summer!!! love going there with my friends from pinole... the bear inside the bar is cool. bathrooms aren't great if your looking for privacy! if you know someone else who goes there its fun, dunno if you wanna go on your own if you dont own a harley. llooove warehouse!!
(4)Michael H.
This place is amazing. I've never eaten here, but the beer selection, together with the atmosphere is fantastic. Port Costa is miniscule, but its eclectic aesthetic really makes it worth a walk around. The big down side is the meth addicts showing off their loud motorcycles. It isn't really a cafe per se, either, so don't come looking for coffee. There used to be a great restaurant across the street but last time we visited, it was in decline. Maybe that's changed?
(4)Tom B.
A wonderful place to sip one of the hundreds of beer they have in the back fridge, get some decent if not great food, and look at the collection of junk that's taken years to acquire in this huge aptly named Warehouse.....1 star removed for too many bikers, outside of that, a definite must to go to.
(4)Kirk S.
one star for the polar bear. one more for all the crap on the walls.
(2)Dan W.
The best bar in the East Bay. Hundreds of beers in the freezer and a town of less than 100 filled with burnouts and biker gatherings on Sunday afternoons is a recipe for greatness. What other bar around here has an 8 foot tall stuffed polar bear with a mangled seal at its feet? Unfortunately the word on the street is you can't go into the freezer anymore because some dipshit dropped a door or crate on his foot and is suing or something. Don't forget to purchase your Port Costa ring if you haven't been there before. They are available at the bar and pretty cheap.
(5)Ormond O.
It ain't so much a cafe as a destination for that combination of motorcycle winedy roads and exotic beer cravings. Check the map. Great opportunities to run off a cliff into the Sacramento, or just stare back at California cows. Good food, good juke, free popcorn, hundreds of beers and wines. But sitting on the funky, what, elevated platform built of old theater signs as the yuppie bikers roar in to thrill their dates. You can too. Try the Kreik Lambic: Black Cherry naturally brewed malt ale. They even let you prowl (accompanied) through the huge cooler. Sunday afternoons the best.BBQ

was just here the other day. it was like my fifth or sixth time that i've been. originally i was brought here by my boss who was a native to benica, and he knew my love of beer and decided to take me to a biker bar beer mecca. i grew up in oregon the micro brewery capital of the world, a half of a block away from the Deschutes brewery bond street pub in downtown Bend, Oregon. growing up drinking great beer left me to when i could become a bartender at an award winning brewery in Santa Rosa, CA. needless to say i love beer. and i say to any beer lover that if you wish for one of the most amazing experiences get your ass to the warehouse... if you love the toranado in san francisco, you'll be left speechless. if you roll during the weekdays expect to be sent back to the bartender to one of the coolers where the workers will hand you a crate to fill up the choices you make from the list of 450 brews from the best mirco and imported. then get your bumm out and enjoy the bays view while old southern pacific engines roll down the track. if you're luck you'll see a tanker split the bay, an amazing site. cool ass things about the bar as you belly up, at one end of the bar it comes up to below your hips and at the other end it's closer to your shoulders, cause it's built on a slope in an old old old building. the pub is filled with amazing artifacts, like the sixteen foot round table, and the stuffed polar bear. the cafe has a buffet bar with the sign that reads, "if you buy a drink, we'll buy you lunch" from like 12 till its gone. dunno if thats just a weekend deal or what. but i know the resturant has a great menu with bbq and fresh live lobster. and if you roll down on the weekend expect to see 50-75 bikers and maybe a loud band playing. don't be imtimidated, some of the greatest people you'll ever meet... enjoy -n8gee

Well, i had to check it out being the beer drinker i am. Quite an impressive list of beer, to say the least. The drive there was retarded. Make sure and come through downtown crocket and not off highway 4 the back way in like i did. I went on a friday right after work so it was pretty quiet. Service was excellent. The locals are laid back. If you order a drink, expect a doubleshot because they only pour in jars. I didnt eat, so i have no recommendation on the food. I definately got a "weird" feeling when first arriving. But after a beer and relaxing on the back padio, i warmed up to the place. If your a beer drinker, its a must visit. You'll be looking at the list and not have a clue what to order. My next trip will be on a sunday when they do the bbq.

i know i won't be able to find the right words to do this place justice... but it is one of the best places i have been to since moving to the bay area. this bar and restaurant is right on the water so you can sit outside and watch the boats and trains go by. as an avid beer dinker this place is my own little heaven. they let you go into the beer refrigerator to get one of the hundreds of rare beers from all over the world. there is an enormous stuffed polar beer as well as a plethora of other oddities to keep you visually entertained too. you are also almost guaranteed to run into an interesting crown especially if you stay the night at the brothel across the street. in a town of just 50 people this place is definitely a diamond in the rough.

Oh, the Warehouse.... I have been visiting the Warehouse off and on for years now. I can't even recall the last time I had been here, but all I know is, I needed to pay an old visit. And this time I was able to introduce this one of a kind gem, to my fiance who had never been. One of a kind for sure, I think most reviews sum it up quite well, and have taken most of the words out of my mouth that portrays this place so well. It's awesome for sure. Old, nostalgic, and whimsical to say the least. The food ( from what I remember ) is decent. Drinks are strong and cheap : ) And they have a EXCELLENT selection of beers, with enough options to satisfy the pickiest of beer drinkers ( me). And the prices are yet again, cheap. It appears they run out of a few here and there, but with a selection as long as they have, I'm sure your settle on something to compensate. This visit, I got some sort of chocolate stout beer that I cannot recall the name of, but it was quite good. This particular visit was the most packed I have ever encountered it to be. They had a live band playing and the energy was flowen. And all though it was packed, it was still comfortably bearable. And, I just discovered they have some little store in the back, filled with tons of little nostalgic, warehouse worthy, antique items for sale. Guess I was a little too engaged with the food and bar, back in the day to have noticed...oh adult hood : ) As for my honey, he wasn't necessarily impressed with the place, but he enjoyed him self. Be safe on your travels in and out, for the road to this haven are narrow and windy. Until next time...

Weirdest bar ever. But I would totally go again. There is a large polar bear watching over the bar, take lots of pictures. And check out the seal. Music is via touch tunes, make sure you have a friend with good taste and at least $10. Drinks are great - huge selection and their specials are awesome. All the mixed drinks are doubles (aayyyy) and they'll make you anything from a vodka soda to a sex on the beach without asking questions. Thanks for not judging me when I ordered a Sand in My Ass three times. Large area, perfect for groups.

Absolutely love this place. Nothing else like it. Building built in 1890. Bar has been there since the 60's and the Burlington Hotel across the street is haunted!!!

We walked into this place a few weeks ago. The place may be a good hangout spot. I couldn't get past the strong smell of dead roses, super funky vibe and the grunginess of it. I'll have to give it a second chance. Just seemed really old, grungy, smelly and did not get greeted at all by the bartenders. It's almost as if they decided to ignore us. My man was ready to hang out and have a beer or two, but we decided to leave. We'll try again sometime, maybe our experience will be better.

"We pour doubles unless otherwise requested." That's usually a good start to any drinking occasion, right? Port Costa is my new favorite place, and the balance struck between the Warehouse's gritty raucousness, and Bull Valley's vintage charm makes this a destination for all appetites. Start or finish your night at the Warehouse for pool-playing with the locals, jukebox wars (it's always country vs. hip-hop with our group), and cheap frou-frou drinks reminiscent of a hillbilly Spring Break. It's always lots of fun. There is a ton of space in here, and the decor reminds me of an old western saloon with carnival-esque flair. The food menu makes fun of bourgie dishes like "Cheese on a Board" (not to be confused with a cheese board, which sounds so pretentious). And wow, the penmanship on their chalkboard menus is impressive. Throughout the evening, the ominous stuffed polar bear will stare you down from behind his glass case. Sometimes, Port Costa feels so remote you could actually imagine a polar bear wandering through town, before being shot between the eyes, stuffed, and showcased for years to come.

Due to my inability to follow instructions I arrived three hours early for the soiree. I'm fine keeping my own company anywhere unless the voice in my head finds another and sometimes there are three and then it's a cacophony and I have a hard time concentrating. On this Saturday afternoon the voices were stilled as my other senses were sufficiently satisfied by the visual and aural feast laid here for apparently anybody and everybody with the adventuring spirit to sample. And at 4 on a Saturday that wasn't a ton of people so I had the side of the tall bar to myself until a few hours later when my party arrived on time. By 8 the joint was jumping. I paced myself like a wise polar bear. Wise because I got to thinking on the way down that the local constabulary probably had no reason to ply the upper drive, as the asphalt ribbon was itself a tortuous drunk test that if you fail maybe they'll find you a few days later at the bottom of the hill in a little metal pile next to the railroad tracks. Maybe. The warehouse at the end of the road next to said tracks isn't as old as the hills, but it's close. History sits at the bar and hangs all over the wall and you can procure some random bits for yourself in the little shop if you've lowered your tolerance and have a little extra room in the truck for a clown or dolls heads or all manner other interesting and useful stuff. I will be back, with a certainty, though in between I may petition Amtrak to consider making this a whistle-stop so as to lower the odds of becoming lonely metal art along the lost coast of the Carquinez.

We love coming to Port Costa and to the Bull Valley Roadhouse!! This Valentine's Day, we decided to try out the Warehouse and their menu. We heard alot of great reviews about their food, namely their prime rib from friends and was really looking forward to it. We've been to the bar a few times and LOVE the atmosphere, the locals and the staff that work there. Always a great time & you won't be disappointed in the beer/drink selections! On Valetine's, we put our name on the list and was told that it would be about 15-20 minute wait. We told the hostess that we'd be at the bar waiting for our name to be called. After 20 mins, I went back to the hostess and another lady who worked there told me it would be about 5-10 mins more. Well we gave it about another 25 mins and at this point we were both hungry and it was already past 8:30 pm. I started to think that MAYBE I should make reservations with the Bull Valley Roadhouse...just in case...and thank gawd I did!!! We could clearly see the hostess & waitresses running back and forth from where we sat at the bar and no one came to the bar to call for us. We both decided to close our tab at the bar and check in with the hostess again since we kept waiting for someone to call us. To our surprise, our name was crossed off the list!!! Seriously?? NO ONE came to the bar to let us know that our table was ready! At this point we were VERY disappointed and a little frustrated with what happened. Thank goodness we made reservations across the street because we were starving!! We would love to give the Warehouse another try and hopefully that was just a fluke thing. Not really sure what happnened but hopefully we'll get to try their prime rib next time we come to Port Costa.

Stopped by this place with my mother and sister while out for a weekend drive. Unfortunately, we walked into the gift shop first and after hearing the extremely rude tone my 87 year old mother was being spoken to by the obnoxious woman working (actually playing with her phone) there, I insisted that we leave. I will never spend money at an establishment that doesn't treat customers with kindness and respect! Feeling a bit bad for the woman running the gift shop yesterday... it must be so difficult to sit on your butt and play with your phone for hours on end....

You'll love this place if: You like kitschy, nostalgic and vintage things. You like a local, fun crowd. You want to see a polar bear. You like bikers - bicyclists and motorcyclists. You want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city or want a change of scenery. Drinks are pretty stiff here. The kitchen had limited options but you can always meander to Bull Valley Road House. We made a scene by taking over the jukebox and the pool table. Let's do it again soon. Anyone want to go?
(5)Patrick L.
It's places like Warehouse Cafe that scream, "Let's hang out and get drunk!" Not what I did yesterday, but it's a drinker's bar if you know what I mean. WC is a combination of funky/creepy/cool, then throw in the huge stuff polar bear for extra weirdness. Why a polar bear? Polar bears haven't roamed these parts since the last ice age...did they even roam Port Costa back then? Uh oh, this review is getting a bit off track - just like the Warehouse Cafe. Bottom line: fun place to grab a beer, relax for a stretch, sober up, then carefully navigate back out to the world on the narrow and winding road.

I am giving this one star because I am unable to give it zero. Went in on a Saturday afternoon after a handful of recommendations. I was told the food was good and the place was pretty cool. I went with my boyfriend, brother and his girlfriend. We were looking for some good steak and drinks but got none of that. First off, we walk in...stand there confused until a man comes walking from the kitchen towards us..great, we are getting help..NOT. He looked at us and walked right past us. OK, no acknowledgement, that's ok. We walk to the bar, wait a while to be acknowledged...no problem, bar is busy, understood. The woman bartender comes to us and we ask where to sit and she yells at us that "Your not getting served here!" Ok...the yelling was unnecessary. She then tells us, extra quickly, You order drinks and food from, take the ticket to the kitchen!". So we walk away and go look at the menu which was randomly on a ticket booth window. Pricey menu considering we didn't have a waitress assisting us. So as we look at the menu, feeling kinda awkward and extremely unwanted..we hear screams at the bar between a customer and bartender...nothing bad, just "I freaking love you's" at the top of their lungs. So needless to say, we walked out and vowed to never return. Service was non existent and when it was, we were yelled at. I wanted to love this place bc of the reviews and recommendations but this was a horrible experience.

An update is long overdue. I lived here for 3 years now and my perspective, as well as the area, has changed. I said in my last review Port Costa is not a food destination and boy, that is no longer the case. You can read about all the great things happening on the food front in my review for The Bull Valley Roadhouse. I admit since experiencing small town life, I no longer have the city-slicker mentality that anything in the woods is "creepy." I am actually embarrassed to have ever suggested such a thing. The East Bay is changing, some good, (lots of great places to eat, safer neighborhoods and better economies) and some of it is not so great, (classist undertones, exploiting landlords, exclusivity). So it's nice to see that the Warehouse stands its ground for being a fun and at-times rowdy place to enjoy the warm weather, music, trains and a beer. I see no reason why we can't have nice things without paying an unfair price. That's why I have a lot of respect for this corner of the Bay. I can get my high end cocktail for an anniversary or just cause I had a bad day, and still cross the street to celebrate the simple things in life like a view of trains and a good beer. The Warehouse (or Port Costa) is a place where bikers gather and young tourist from Oakland gawk uploading their findings on Instagram. Established locals gladly tell you the town's history and beemers park in a dusty lot. A mixed crowd can be seen here and I think that is something the Bay Area is losing. It is preserved here at the corner of this small town. It is the cake that you can eat too.

If youre lucky, the bartender will show you their beer cooler. I've been brought back a few times to make a selection when the menu options just weren't doing it. This is my favorite place to order Spaten's Hef - and they usually have the bottles in stock. Extensive beer selection but you might not get your first choice so stare at the two page menu long enough to find a back-up plan. Popcorn sits on the bar from time to time in giant bowls. I like group popcorn. Except that I end up eating all of it. I'm a bad person to share group popcorn with. Does excessive beer drinking lead you wondering where the restroom is? It's in the back of the place, past the store of oddities and a couple arcade games. There are no doors on the ladies room stalls, but perhaps this encourages new friendships. No strangers here! Lots of indoor seating around the bar. Plus the giant round table. Plus someother benches. Outside patio with some wooden benches and chair seating as well. They BBQ and have live music from time to time. Had to much to drink? Don't drive the pretty, windy roads home. Bicyclists will thank you if you crawl across the street to the (former) brothel and get a cheap room ($60-ish). Sheriff's patrol this area on land and sea so be good. Be rowdy if you'd like! But be good.

Ahoy, matey! Ye will find thy treasure ye seek at thee ol' Warehouse Cafe. Arrrrgh! Sorry, I've been playing The Secret of Monkey Island recently and thought I was a pirate for a second there. Anyhow, I think you'll find plenty of modern day pirates at this place. (Pirate 2.0s.) It's pretty awesome. On the fringes of society, teetering on the edge of the bay, you'll drink grog with pirates that greet you with insults and a giant stuffed polar bear. Across the street is the historical brothel turned hotel, Burlington Hotel. Warehouse Cafe is the ultimate hideaway spot when you've had enough of the city and want to escape into another world, time, land, etc. By far, my favorite Pirate Scumm Bar. I used to be a pirate, now I sell pet food.

I've been here multiple times and always thought it was great, until this last time. A blonde female waitress decided she wanted to serve everyone including employees before acknowledging us. She also gave me the wrong beer which I didn't notice before I left the bar to get a seat. I don't need attitude like that. I'll recommend others (including my motorcyclist friends) to go elsewhere.

This is the second and possibly last time I come to this place. There is one bartender in particular who was not just rude, but insulting as well. Let me tell you what happened... I previously been to this bar/restaurant with a friend of mine and was left was left with a very favorable impression. My wife and I had reservations at the Bull Valley Roadhouse and arrived to Port Costa a little early, so we stopped by Warehouse Cafe for a quick drink or two. It was a busy Saturday afternoon and it was understandably crowded. We ordered our first round of drinks without incident. My wife, who is not much of a drinker, complained that her drink was a little strong. I offered to go back to the bar and order her something a little more tame. She wanted a mojito. When I went to order the drink, the bartender said something to the effect of "are you kidding me? This is a biker bar. I am not going to make that." I said that it was for my wife and could she just make it. She then went to the other end of the bar and started talking to the patrons who were sitting down. Someone ordered a drink and she then said "yeah I will get it for you, as long as you don't order a mojito." She then looked at me and everyone started laughing. I was very embarrassed. In frustration, I ended up ordering a glass of wine. This experience was unpleasant enough for me not to want to come back. By the way, I have been to plenty of "biker bars". This is the first "biker bar" that I've been to where: a) there were kids running around, b) they have specialty drinks made with Midori and served chocolate oatmeal stout beer, c) there were not a lot of bikers.
(1)Emily J.
After a pre-brunch, 5-mile morning hike I wanted a bloody mary. Bad. We arrived right around their 10 am opening time and the bartender arrived shortly after, looked at the four of us bellied up to the bar, and just said, "seriously?" I think we surprised her with our early bird eagerness. Tough exterior aside, the bartender made us some very tasty bloody marys and warmed up quickly. We didn't have any food, so I can't speak to that, but the bloody marys, the bartender, and the bar's vintage thrift-store style, deserve five decorative stars.
(5)Darcy B.
This place has an amazing beer selection and since it's super close to home we go pretty often. The food in the bar and in the restaurant is good. Can't get restaurant food at the bar so don't get your hopes up. There's pool and live music on Sundays, not sure if that happens int he winter though.
(5)Nathan M.
I always have a good at this old watering hole. Jeanie is the most comical and brutally honest bartender that ever existed. I hope you go on a night she's on duty.
(5)Kim W.
The menu is as odd as the decor. Burgers, hot dogs, BBQ and chicken paprikash. The beer offering is extensive but minus one star for not having a gluten-free beer option. Totally acceptable if this was in Racine, WI but it's in the SF Bay Area. The outdoor seating area is dog friendly. Someone's dog was running around off leash and sniffing around our food. My poodle snapped at it and the dog never came back. Don't miss the big stuffed polar bear or the window where sailors used to pay for a lady of the night!
(4)Natalie M.
Get in your car, find highway 4, get off at the one exit that starts with an "Mc", or something, take a right and drive down a really skinny and windy road, keep driving, you're on the right track. Seriously, just keep on driving for like 2.5 miles and then the road ends. You'll find yourself in a dirt parking lot by the bay looking across at Benicia. It may have just been stupid luck, but I bet dollars to donuts that it's pretty standard to find motorcycles a plenty parked on the street. You'll get out of your car and you'll smell tobacco, lots and lots of tobacco. Ok, you're basically there, no you ARE there! Go inside the only place that's open, that's the Warehouse Cafe. It's brilliant. Lots of good beer, lots of fun stuff on the walls, lots of trashy conversation (either to partake in, or overhear), lots of good commentary from the bartender. I think everyone inside this joint lives up the stairs of this joint. Makes me want to live there too. Would make from a great alternate universe from the one I live in now. Go there, come on!
(5)Darryl L.
Felt I needed to update this dated review and have nothing but GOOD news about our "not so sleepy" hamlet. The Warehouse Cafe' is serving-up more food, more often with an awesome chef/cook, Bobby Sweet Cheeks, and the always popular live music on Sundays. Bartenders are perfectly suited for the Warehouse which means you really never know what you're going to get, but you'll always end up with a good stiff cocktail. Heavy tipping helps sooth the savage beasts and can move your next round to the front of the queue on Sundays. Food and party environment will never fail to satisfy unless you're just a bit too uptight which is even MORE of a reason to visit Port Costa. The Bull Valley Roadhouse, formerly the BV Restaurant, is teetering on 4-5 STAR Zagat status as they continue to bus-in and please San Francisco foodies. Earl and Sam have transformed the trip to Port Costa into a weekend getaway again. The food and atmosphere is very highline, but warm and inviting. Both the WH and BVR have collaborated with the Burlington Hotel on "Bed & Breakfast" weekend getaway packages. The hotel has been renovated and is cleaner than it has been in many years. They more than satisfy the "breakfast" half of B&B with their own coffee and croissant corner cafe' open weekend mornings (1st Floor of Burlington where Ice Cream Shop used to be back in the days.) SIDEBAR: They also sell their "Port Costa Honey" from local Port Costa hives. I've even seen chickens and goats....what the heck is going on? I suspect you're eating real and super fresh goat cheese and fresh eggs and/or chickens when you dine at the restaurant. Check out my review on their Yelp site. Anyway, Port Costa lives again and is always worth a stop whether coming or going.
(5)Marcelo D.
This place is amazing. And the bartenders here are super awesome too. My first time here Larry gave me a walk through in the walk in. I was blown away by the bottle selection. I work in the beer industry and I couldn't decide what I wanted. Huge selection of craft beers from all over the world. The last time here Gina had me cracking up non stop. The atmosphere here is like walking into Ripleys believe it or not museum curated by Tom Waits.
(5)Casey P.
Best Bar By the Bay! I love this place. It's almost like you are taking a step back in time when you walk through the doors of the Warehouse Cafe. The bar is amazing with a huge list of beers from around the world, and a usually very friendly bartender who knows how to take care of all the different types of patrons. As you walk into the bar, Usually the first thing that I see is a GIANT Polar Bear that is standing up. Its not every day that you get to see a stuffed Polar Bear at a bar. Usually the wife and I will order from the bar and head outside where we can soak up the sun and watch the giant boats float down the Carquinez Straits. It is a great way to an beautiful California sunny day.
(5)Rebekah T.
This place is like a museum of odds and ends, the bizarre and beautiful with everything in between. The walls are interesting, the place is inviting and the drink list is impressive. What I have been waiting for? I'm much too distracted by the giant polar bear, interesting furniture and wall hangings to order my own drinks. Plus we really wanted to sit in this glass booth, so I grabbed the table and watched some football on TV. I ordered the table a round of Watermelon Jolly Rancher shots. For a little pink cocktail shooter, these little guys kicked butt. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Then we had our drinks, I ordered the Chimay Tripel (White - 8.00% APV), he ordered the Sea Dog Blueberry Beer, she got the Whiskey Sour and I think he drank his before we could take a pic. All different and all great. I had a great time, took some amazing pictures of the view and the little town of Port Costa and happy to share another adventure with all of you!
(5)Rachel A.
1 star is being generous, but is being offered because our waitress was nice. The food was horrible and expensive!!! Hadn't read the reviews just went thinking this was a 4.5 star restaurant....WRONG! They have no business serving food. Ambiance is eclectic, and included lots of spiderwebs...but I can see the draw for some as a watering hole.
(1)Geordi W.
Just the vast beer selection makes this place a go to bar. The road to get there can be a little intense so definitely designate a driver haha. Fun atmosphere and its basically right on the water cant beat it
(5)Andres B.
a fun biker type bar near the water. huge parking lot, very bumpy. big polar bear. outdoor tables. hundreds of beers.hundreds. fun bar staff. jukebox (digital, boo) funny decor. all in all a fun place to have a couple of beers. free wi fi but did not work on my visit.
(4)Rolf H.
We planned to meet at the Warehouse last night for dinner based upon earlier personal experience and favorable reviews. It was Wednesday and we found they only serve food on weekends. Also, the place was full of bikers and the vibe was bad. Warehouse has no website, so there's no way for them to communicate important info. such as food availability and menu. So, go if you only want to drink and you're into biker culture. Other reviews have mentioned the biker presence.
(1)Steph H.
We stayed at the Burlington Hotel across the street for the weekend, but stopped by the Warehouse Cafe on Saturday night. It was crowded and played loud country music, but the drinks were ok. They were expensive though (approximately $5-7 for beer or $9 for liquor/mixed drinks). I don't know that I would come here again, since the bikers were really obnoxious and loud all day.
(2)Jess A.
I love the biker crowd. Good food n great drinks!!
(5)Walker Y.
Thanks Jen for the great service! Ill be back. Great place to catch up with old friends. Eccentric decor, great prices. I wish I lived on that side of the bridge.
(5)Dan P.
Living in town, the local bar doesn't begin to describe this place. It's HOME, and everything I love about a bar. Not the cookie cutter bar at all, yet, the beer selection is numbing. You literally can come here everyday, have a different beer each day and make it the whole year without repeating. Plus you get double booze with your bar drinks and the price stays reasonable, most around $7 or $8. For me, I know I can always walk home but for those who have to drive, parking can get skittish. Railroad owns the lot and won't grade or pave it. Morons. I never feel coming here is a bad decision and while I wish they offered more food, they just don't get the business they should to allow it. Too bad. Place really is underrated for being a bar in the middle of nowhere. But then again, that's how we like it.
(5)William A.
This place has tons of character. The building is old and there are hundreds of random objects perfectly placed throughout the bar in a way that only makes sense once you've had a couple drinks. The beer selection is good, and yes there is a giant polar bear. If you have thin skin then don't come in.
(5)Jenny Y.
This place reminds me of that dive bar that I went to see my friend play a set, very chill and relaxed atmosphere. Their selection of bottled beer is very extensive. I don't know how I feel about their mixed drinks though. The chalkboard said they poured doubles unless otherwise asked. I felt nothing, not even a tingle when I drank my fruity drink :T So onto the beers! Felt better at the end of the night :) If you find yourself hungry, make sure you get the NY steak, it comes in a huge slab, smelled delicious and a potato, ayce clam chowder, chili, and salad came with it all for $25. One thing though, I wish the stalls to the restroom had doors but i guess you can just lock the door behind you, or drink till it doesn't even matter anymore ;D
(4)Cecilia M.
I loved this place. Let me start by saying I am "bouji" about bars. But I love this place because it was everything I was not used to. The service was fast and great but you can't beat the ambiance. The beer cooler is awesome and you really should jump right in and try something you never have before. I tried a Czech beer and loved it. For those that do not know beer it would be nice to get a description of the beer because the bartender didn't know much about them... But she was great so that is not a negative towards her! This place is a MUST if you are near by! Do not let the exterior or clientele scare you off, it is a civilian friendly biker bar and you will not be disappointed.
(5)David S.
We arrived from dinner at 7. The hostess stated it will be a 20 min wait. That was reasonable on a Saturday 2 hrs later still no table available for us. We check in with hostess a few times and when got a response we are clearing table for you. The bar area was great and bartender was on point. We called ahead but was told they only take reservations for 6 of more. A very disappointing dining experience
(1)Jeffrey J.
A really great bar with lots of personality, strong drinks and low prices. Parking is a a little disorganized, but not a bad place to spend the afternoon.
(4)Francis E.
Take yourself down the long windy road to the Warehouse Cafe for a real treat. Quite a unique and fun experience at this hidden gem. The decor is really cool with the monster Polar Bear, Medusa and Arthur's round table. Surprisingly impressive and extensive beer menu. If you're lucky the bartender will take you to the walk in beer fridge to view all their selections. The clutter of random junk in the outdoor seating area is really cool and junk yard like at the same time. This place has it's own flair that you can love or hate. Drinks served in mason jars which is different. Bartender was very friendly the one night I stopped by. Would be fun during the daytime over the weekend.

Pros: This is a beautiful, quaint bar in one of the most beautiful towns in the bay area. The combination of ambience, location and decorations make for a tremendously beautiful setting to have a drink. The polar bear, among their many displays, is of particular distinction for conversation starters. The beer menu is excellent and comprehensive of brand labels from across the globe. The wide, international selection is no understatement. I was very pleased to see some labels from Greece, Germany, Japan and the UK, which I initially enjoyed when I traveled to those countries. I was especially delighted to see Samuel Smiths, Lev Lion, Mythos, Belhaven and the various Hefe labels including the Franziskaner. Cons: The bar staff was actually welcoming except one of the bartenders at the cashier who has a severe social etiquette and emotional intelligence gap. She (appeared to be in mid-50's, dark brown hair, caucasian) said she felt overwhelmed during that "busy day", but was very condescending, reiterating a "you will get carded speech and why" to my group 3 times after we initially acknowledged that upon our entry, referred to us as "kids" in a patronizing tone and was visibly upset that my group was not ordering on one tab (given that separate orders are completed by separate trips to the cooler, no selections on tap). While she claimed to be just doing her job, my group sensed immediately she was sizing us up when we entered, likely because we were outsiders and our skin complexions did not match her own or most of her perceived customer demographic. I could replace every time she called me "kid" with the word, "boy" and her communication failure could easily be from a scene in the Jim Crowe era, segregated South. After having enjoyed bars in small towns, midsize and big cities in over 20 countries, I honestly believe she will fail outside outside Port Costa. There are bars in neighborhoods far more demanding and "busy" than what she may be used to, and while every one is different in terms of social norms and expectations, customer service employees, including myself adhere to common code of mutual respect and tolerance that is observed by descent, reasonable human beings. This bartender is not one of them. She is an embarrassment to herself, the Warehouse Cafe establishment and her community. Bottom Line: There are hundreds of good reasons to visit this hidden bay area jewel. I daresay the bar has the best beer selection I have enjoyed in my lifetime thus far. I would have easily given this wonderful place a 5 star rating had I not been dealt the misfortune of a bartender's poor attitude and failure to keep her emotions and personal biases in check. Please note that everything else about this place, location, decoration, open seating, beer selection, availability of a pool table and self service water, is wonderful.

Great selection of beers, giant keg of cold water, plenty of parking. I always consider this place a destination on a medium length afternoon motorcycle ride - I can zip through Tilden, up Bear Creek and take all the backroads to this bar - have a beer and enjoy the view of the water, chat with my friends, drink some water and head home. I've always been kind of grossed out by the polar bear in the glass case - it's just horrifying to me that someone would do that to any living creature and it makes me wonder why they don't buy a dead human body from the "Body Worlds" exhibit to put in there along side the bear. In fact, I always have this sense that if I stay there too long - I'll end up taxidermied and in a glass case too! Can't comment on whether the menu is vegan-friendly or not since I've never bothered to check (I just assume french fries will be the only thing I can eat) - I promise to check next time!

This is an awesome dive bar in a random part of the bay area that I never thought I would be in. The roads were windy and the parking lot had a nice view of the water. I like how they had lots of different beers from around the world. I had this one German beer that straight up tasted like smoked salmon. The bartenders were nice and the people I met were cool. I like how they had a pool table and all the decorations gave the place a lot of character--especially the polar bear. I also like how it's next to a United States Post Office.

You may be wondering where Port Costa is... I was wondering that exact same thing. It is a tiny town nestled somewhere between Martinez and Crockett. I recently read about the Warehouse Cafe, and then the other night I heard this guy at a bar raving about the place so I knew I just had to check it out. I came on a Saturday night and as I exited my car I heard country music blasting through the doors and a man with a cowboy hat smoking a cigarette outside. I thought to myself... uh-oh, what the hell am I walking into...?? I walk in and head to the bar. I nearly had a heart attack as I was accosted by a GIANT polar bear that looked ready to eat me. I swerved to the left and seated myself at the bar, still reeling from my near death experience. I ordered a Tom Collins and the writing on the wall states "We pour doubles unless otherwise requested." Well, that's my kind of bar and my drink was pretty damn stiff. The bartenders are super friendly, if not a little weird... but that's part of the charm. The other patrons there were friendly and eclectic bunch of people, and that cowboy outside... well he was kind enough to let me bum a smoke. We met a Jerry Garcia look alike and had some interesting conversations that night. I wish I could give them 5 stars because I had such a great time BUT the bartender kept forgetting to grab my husband's beer (I think some of the bottled beers are kept in the back). There were a few times when he had to remind the bartender 3 or 4 times before he got his drink... Other than that, love this place and can't wait to go back.

As good and as WEIRD as it gets. Barbie is more than a character and it sounds like we got her on a good day. We asked her nicely and she let us in to the walk in beer fridge to pick our own beers of the some 100+ choices available. Mmm St. Peter's Creme Ale... Borderline dirty and decrepit, the warehouse is still clean enough to stay a while--don't let the mossy awning or musty smell fool you. I'm not sure what got me the most, the large polar bear taxidermy or the fact the bathroom has no stall covers. Or maybe it was the section with some 30+ chandeliers. Whatever it is, once you've been in there's no turning back. This place is the divey-ist of the divey. (For those of you who never leave Oakland, the place reminds me of Cafe Van Kleef but way, way further down the rabbit hole..) The outdoor patio is great for a late afternoon picnic. If you like a good bike ride (30 mi. r/t), get off at the Pleasant Hill BART and wind your way around the hills. The Warehouse Cafe is a pleasant treat at the end of a good ride and most of the way back is down hill.
(5)Moua L.
Surprise! There's no privacy door in the bathroom. On the wall it reads that the Warehouse Caffe was built in 1890 and the restroom doors fell off during 1920s. You will definitely feel very close to your neighbor and even exchange a brief conversation while you go. The crowd that comes here probably live in the small within the vicinity of the town that its located in. Amtrak and shipping trains run through the tracks, while there are small outdoor benches overlooking the bay so you can enjoy the sailboats roaming by. The bar is equipped with a feisty older lady serving you special cocktails to $6 beers. You can also order food and look at the various collectibles hanging from the wall and ceilings. Yes there is a huge 11 foot polar bear in a glass casing. It is a sight to see if you never seen a polar bear up close. Want an adventure and exploring something new? Stop by Port Costa for the weekend.

It was amazing it felt like we were on vacation yet we were only 20 mins from home. The whole ambiance was great and the beer selection amazing!
(5)Demetrius G.
"Every drink is a double unless requested" they say in a sign behind the bartender. Beer from tap is poured in a mason jar...that's the kind of place this is. I had a turkey burger and it was surprisingly very good. My buddies had burgers and they said they were pretty decent. They only give you Lay's potato chips with the sandwiches though. It's a cool ride in to this place and it overlooks the Martinez bridge. Don't plan on anything fancy, it is what it is...and that's a pretty cool hangout spot.
(4)Choctawbabe S.
I love this bar, I love Jeannie wack a weenie, she'll show you why lol. Great live bands, fun people and all drinks are Double! What more could you ask for. PS- don't overdose on the free popcorn, it's addictive :D
(5)Jennifer C.
I was pleasantly speechless when I walked into the cafe. The decoration is very interesting and it's definitely like nothing I've seen in the bay area. There is a live size polar bear, an old movie theater ticket booth and whole bunch of other oddities to see. The vibe reminds me of Cheers, where everybody knows your name. The crowd is mixed of locals and hipsters and bikers. Unfortunately we arrived late and couldn't drink much since we still need to drive up the windy road to get home and taxi would cost too much if they even go out here. As small as this town is with not much to do, it would still be worth an overnight trip just to relax, hang with the locals or just an affordable get away from the hustle and bustle of the bay area.
(4)BellaLissa B.
I've eaten here a few times, it's a pretty cool looking place but you have to be in the mood for the drive. For me the issue is, they pour great drinks but I don't drive after drinking so either I have to decide if I want to go ahead and have a cocktail or two and let my crazy roommate drive home or not drink which is one of the only good reasons to go to that place. The food is way too expensive but it's good and I justify it by the fact that there is a great all you can eat salad bar that has pretty decent chile and clam chowder as a feature. I like that very much. I do love the Polar Bear ....too bad he ended up in a glass case though. Yes I will go again, yes I will suffer the drive to and from because there is something preciously individual about it, unpretentious and completely unique.
(3)Flim S.
That creepy bar server is a real detraction. It seems like she hates everything about life....including the beautiful people who love going there. I hope she gets seen at John Muir Hospital soon. I would even find donations to help pay the medical bill, because I know she does not make a cent on tips.
(1)Paiyu G.
funky, has a lot of personalities, and very fun to visit.

The food here definitely deserves 4 stars, as does the service. It's definitely a niche restaurant and probably not a place you're going to go to all the time, unless you're super local. They have an extensive beer selection and knowledgable staff to help you pick the right one for you. Some details I wish I had read closer from other people's reviews before coming though: 1. Use the restroom at home, before hand. The bathroom stalls do not have doors. And the walls are shorter than normal. Other people will see you doing your business. 2. Menu Options: Lobster or King Crab Legs or Shrimp Scampi or New York Strip or Prime Rib (or Surf and Turf combination of Steak and one of the aforementioned seafoods). All come with salad bar and soup/chili and a baked potato. Cheapest item: $12.95 salad bar (by itself) or $17.95 Shrimp Scampi. I arrived expecting more options than this, and balked slightly at the portion size. (Steaks are all in 1 lb portions.) But you can split an entree and they tack on an extra salad bar when you do that which made the portion more manageable. Also: If you are coming in a big group for dinner - BRING CASH. They accept credit cards but only up to 2 per group.

This place is epic! The first thing you see when you walk in is a biggest stuffed polar bear ever. The décor is a mixture of oddities, knick knacks and taxidermy. The building itself is huge. It's a full size restaurant and bar with a curiosity shop in the back and a large patio. The regulars / locals are really welcoming. Booze: I am definitely more of a beer drinker and there are so many good beers to choose from! My friends probably did try every mixed drink on the board and I didn't hear one complaint. Food: The food is a little expensive but the price is appropriate for the amount of food you get. I split the shrimp scampi with a friend. It came with all-you-can-eat salad, clam chowder and chili. The chowder was amazing. Each dish also comes with sautéed mushrooms and a baked potato. It's a mountain of food but that mountain is really tasty. Instead of trying to drive home, I highly recommend booking a room at the Burlington Hotel, closing the bar down and stumbling home. This place is so much fun that it would be really hard to leave after only a couple hours.
(5)Elle M.
This place is probably one of my 3 favorite bars(-another being the old Ivy Room which is funny because the bartender now works here)anyways I like it a lot and I'v been coming here since I was about 18.......oh the fun times I have had here on that teeter totter in the back. Now that I'm in my 30's it's still fun but I prefer to come earlier in the evening-once the young hopped up Raiders fans show up it's time to leave. I'v eaten here once and it was good but I'll probably never eat here again, I really like to come here to drink and people watch. BTW I do not suggest doing any hallucenagenics when you come here.
(5)Rachelle S.
This place is fantastic! I came here for the first time with a couple of friends on a weekday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised! The other patrons were the kind of people you feel comfortable joking with even though you've never met. The bartender was friendly and filled with laughs, the drinks were delicious and nicely priced, and the atmosphere is beautifully tacky. The giant taxidermy polar bear towards the back may have been my favorite part. :) On a slow afternoon they're more than happy to show you around the back and let you peek into the beautiful wall-to-wall beer cooler. Looking forward to trying this place out on a busy night!
(4)Laura A.
This is a cool hole in the wall! Amazing beer selection, cocktails in mason jars and an eclectic crowd too. They have some funky and interesting decor inside, and dogs are welcome on the patio. Great watering hole for a summer day.

This place has been my stomping grounds since I was old enough to drink and that said it holds a special place in my heart. Over the years many people have come and gone but many of the town locals still hang around adding their own special vibe and familiar faces. Yeah, sometimes it is biker hang out and sometimes it feels like the hipster mecca of coco county but that is the awesome thing about the warehouse, you never know what kind of mix of people will be there when you go! Their drinks here are always great. They definitely don't skimp on the booze and they have many signature drinks all of which are great. My favorite is the root beer float. If the drinks aren't what bring you out here it should be the wide variety of beers from all over the world that are offered. Yes, over the years the beer list has decreased, at one point they offered over 150 types of beer but it is still not shabby by far. As for shabby the decorations are a little worn but that is part of what makes this place so great it is like a cathedral of junk and oddities...especially the polar bear that watches over our drunkenness. On the weekends when the weather is nice they often have free BBQs and live music which in this penny pincher's book is a great way to spend a sat/sun. They even had one of my favorite bands Hammerlock! Hooray! The warehouse café itself is not that great but what the hay if you are drunk enough anything will taste great!

I struggled with this review. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars, not sure where this place should fit. I went on a Friday night with a small group of people. We were all there for the first time. The building... as others have noted is so old. And it's filled with random odds and ends. And it doesn't look like anyone has dusted in quite some time. The drinks... are probably their best feature. They have tons of fun mixed drinks and tons of different beers available. Prices are so-so. The food... is too expensive. I ordered the NY strip steak and I believe it was $25. My friends ordered the lobster which was even more. I was happy with my steak, they weren't very happy with their lobster which was overcooked. They have a salad bar but it's barren compared to most restaurant offerings. Their chili was very tasty though. I did not try the clam chowder. The atmosphere... could be good depending on who else is in the bar. While we were there, there was a handful of obnoxious guys hovering over the pool table giving other patrons a hard time who wanted to play pool. I don't know if they were locals and felt like they could bully others or what. Their presence detracted from the ambiance. The service... was the part I was least happy with. My friends and I felt like we were treated as outsiders. Yes it was our first time there, but most of the staff had a standoffish attitude towards us that didn't make us feel welcome. One bartender, an older gentleman with gray hair, was very friendly and attentive. Props to him. But everyone else that works there wasn't friendly or helpful. All-in-all I will come back for their beer selection and mixed drinks. But I won't be eating here. And I will lower my expectations for their staff as low as I can go so I'm not disappointed or put off by them. Perhaps this place is so secluded they know you can't walk down the street and go somewhere else? Maybe that's why their effort in customer service is sub-par? Just a thought.

The Wearhouse Cafe is along the Carquinez Straights & a cross from the Burlington Hotel. It is located along a windy road from between Martinez or Crockett the road is just the same whindy as ever. It is located in the Town of Port Costa ,CA which is (1) single street wide with (1) blink of the eye you would miss this town all together. Port Costa is defiantly a town of the past. Port Costa was established in 1879 was once well renown for it being the largest Grain & Wheat export in the country , also home to the The Port Costa Brick Company & had (2) of the largest Train Ferries in the world used in the Inter-Continental Railroad. Port Costa was also rumored to be a favorite pit stop of our Naval & Military heroes for it was once (1) of the liveliest town's of the west & because of it's former glorified night life. They are also rumors of Prostitution & a violent past. Like most western towns there are always tales of the past. Rural Port Costa really takes you back. The Warehouse Cafe it does not get more rustic, western & vintage than this. It is like you stepped into a time machine & stepped back into the Wild West era. You might imagine cow boys in stir ups entering this establishment. It is legitimate Saloon the type the west coast is known for. You won't see any old cowboy's here only a few locals & sometime's biker clubs. At the entrance there is dis-guarded pillars, a falling awning & a couple tables. The entrance honestly looks a little broken, LOL. Once you get past that & into the establishment you are amazed & taken back by the feeling of the past. They have vintage curtains & a bunch of vintage items & antique tables. One of which I like to call the round table for the nights of King Arthur, they also have a tiny round room made of glass & wood with a table in the center and vintage booth seating with country style table cloths. They actually have a stuffed Polar Bear encased in glass. It is huge.Holly crap. Not something you see everyday right? The bar is solid & made of a heavy wood. They have a huge chalk board on the wall with some of the more favored drinks. Now, I have never seen a bar with a bigger Beer list. The Beer List is huge & has a lot of local brewery's. So much beer & even some from Marin. There mixed drinks are delicious & Cocktails. I had the "Sex on the Beach" that was incredibly refreshing. I also had what I THINK was called the "Rootbeer Float" & believe me this baby was no Virgin. It was delicious & went down smooth. It is (1) of those drinks that will creep up on you after while & get you all types of intoxicated. The bar tender is so sweet. He is really nice & attentive. He always checks up on you even if your a new comer & try's to accommodate you to the best his ability. I love it here. This pub won my heart with it's old western charm. It's quite enchanting. It's been to long I need to head back. -Elena ;)

their beer selections is amazing! we love coming down here, grabbing one of the many beers from the bar and going outside to watch the activity on the delta. ships, kayaks, sea critters. the water is very close so you can easy walk down to it, across the train tracks. the only downside is the drive in, which is pretty but down a narrow, windy road. but i guess thats what also adds to the charm, keeping it semi secluded. oh, and of course, the stuffed polar bear. :)

Great time for a Sunday afternoon, sitting outside on this gorgeous day listening to the band and enjoying the great scenery. great beer selection. Fun Time!!!! Just a fun place to chill.

OK this place is a dive but that isn't necessary a bad thing. You get the impression that it's a rough and tumble type of place and with the wrong crowd it might be but the staff is friendly and the food is plentiful and good. The restaurant is on the bottom floor of a two story building. Parking consisted of a dirt lot filled with pot holes, which at the time were also filled with rain water. The decor is best described as eclectic. Everything from exposed ceiling joist, a simple concrete slab floor, a 10 ft stuffed polar bear, to antique wood panels for a turnstile door which were turned into a booth. To quote Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, "It's a wax museum with a pulse." The dinner menu is limited - Steak, Prime Rib &/or Seafood with a salad bar which includes soups and chili. Bread is provided to you at your table. All in all hearty fare and tasty. I ordered a 1 lb steak with, depending on the menu you get , either a 1/2 lb or 1 lb of shrimp scampi. The steak was cooked to order and came with sautéed mushrooms and a baked potato with butter and sour cream only. The salad was fresh and their Ranch dressing was okay. People in my party tried the clam chowder and chili. The clam chowder was described as being quite good while the chili was describes as being okay. All this, excluding the bar tab, for just under $25. There is a full bar which has a very large beer menu. I had a tasty Stone Brewing Co. Arrogant Bastard Ale which came in 22 oz bottle to wash down the steak with. I would have never expect to find AB in Port Costa! If you're looking for an upscale restaurant where you hold your cup with your little finger out and valet parking then keep looking but if you want an unusual restaurant that is way way off the beaten path then this place might just be for you.

"She asked me why I beat the shit out of her and I said 'cuz you touched my man' " This was the first sentence I heard upon entering the Warehouse. And I believed her. Then I saw on the chalkboard "We pour doubles for all cocktails unless otherwise requested" Yay. We sat outside, on perhaps old railroad ties forced into service as picnic tables, putting our marlboro lights out in Kirkland Coffee cans scattered about. There were a few proper picnic tables, and some benches repurposed from some other thing, I saw the rusty nails poking out. Don't get me wrong, I liked this place. It's unapologetic, it doesn't give a shit. Some people may have to open their minds more than others. But, yes, it's a drive, on unforgiving roads, so plan on a designated driver or to stay the night in Port Costa.

I can't help but write a review for this place just because all the circumstances leading up to and into this bar were so unique and seemed to almost set the right mood for being at the Warehouse Cafe. First, Google Maps took us through the scenic route to this place--meaning, we got to tour through all the local farmhouses between Hwy 4 and the Warehouse cafe. The road was so narrow and winding that my sister made a comment that it looked like only a horse and buggy could safely drive through. Second, it was a dark and dreary day, meaning, driving through the town made it a little less charming and a little more creepy-looking. In fact by the time my sister and I got out of the car, we were the only ones standing outside and every building looked empty. We were only out of the car for a minute before it started raining so we couldn't take in much more of the scene before we ran over to the Warehouse Cafe. The Warehouse Cafe was surprisingly busy for a dreary day. It's a rustic bar with turn of the 20th century type artifacts wherever you turn. In short, the people were friendly and funny. It is definitely an interesting place to visit, especially if you want to feel like you are stepping back in time. All in all, a great spot to visit...if you want an out-of-the-way bar to hang out.

Blast from the past - in a very good way. Funky/eclectic (and a little dark) interior filled with authentic folksy decorations. "We serve doubles unless otherwise requested" describes the mentality. Sassy waitresses that know their stuff and dish out the double entendres along with the drinks. Ask to see Gina's "Whackaweenie." Gina is the bomb! Great views beyond the junky parking lot. You walk your order directly to the cook "so you can see who's poisoning you and look him right in the eye." The cheeseburger and steak sanndwich were both delicious. They come with chips.

Larry.Ice ice ice cold beer, and too many to count at that....atmospheric..trains going by a couple hundred yards away....yes.go. after one visit...i'll be back to while away some honky tonk yearnings.....reminds me of The Casino i Bodega..these bars a re disappearing, enjoy this one!

This is an amazing place, and you should see it. Especially if you: * Like taking beautiful winding drives to tiny, out-of-the way places but don't want to be in the car for hours * Like history, especially Bay Area history (bootleggers and brothels -- that's how we do, son!) * Like drinking double cocktails ("All Drinks Are Doubles Unless Otherwise Requested") * Don't mind peeing in front of other people (no door on the stalls would normally bug me; here, it does not-- so yes, this place is magic) * Like drinking craft beers out of jam jars, either outside on the dusty patio, breathing in the sea air as you rest your beer on an old spool in the delicious inland sun, or inside in the spacious, dimly-lit room full of quirky salvaged decor with plenty of fun corners and nooks to hide in * Appreciate a bartendress with extra sass (she's not yelling, she's Italian!) * Won't get offended by lack of process and general disorganization (It's not personal, and it's definitely not meant to be "bad service." They just do things in a weird, we've-always-done-it-this-way way. Because this ain't Gary Danko. And you'll live through it.) * Get all nostalgic when you see that vintage video game with the two big rifles on it (I know; we're very old) * Enjoy whiling away an afternoon in the company of jovial bikers, and a group of young lesbians who hiked over from Crocket to celebrate buying their first house, and a bunch of dogs and some cute kids, and some older folks drinking wine and reading books * Appreciate places that are rare, weird, old, full of interesting stuff to see, slightly nonsensical, and totally genuine * Miss the 70's

I've been there numerous times... Some of the bartenders are absolutely horrible. There is a blonde bartender names "Jen" has a terrible attitude, and a man named "Larry" very obviously ignored me until after the bar closed. That being said... The food is fantastic! My steak was amazing. And my waitress, "Candice," was a sweetheart, and took amazing care of our entire table.

What a gem! Port Costa is a teeeeeeny tiny little town but such a cute jewel. This was the only place open at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon -- so we stopped in after our hike. The four stars is really for ambiance and service and the quaintness of it all. The food was not special or worth the drive--- it felt like reheated Costco fare... but hey, when you're hungry and it's the only option - it's fine. They have an extensive drink list so that was fun. Beers, wine, and spirits, oh my! The ambiance is the best part by far. It has a spectacular view of the water (across a dusty parking lot) and inside is chockablock full of the randomest decor. From polar bears to rams to mummies to jukeboxes and arcade games. I definitely want to come back for drinks!
(4)Jack M.
Best damn prices, drinks, service and ambiance in Northern California. The blondie that works weekends is probably the friendliest damn bartender of all time. Always manages to put a smile on my face with he witty jibber jabber and excellent service that any real biker bar needs. Been coming here since I was a kid, have never had anything short of a great time with the warehouse's consistently rad staff.
(5)Laura B.
The Warehouse - an East Bay institution for as long as I can remember. Once a rowdier rite of passage for 21-year-olds in Contra Costa County and a bike run destination for mid-lifers on their Harleys, the Warehouse is now seeing a renaissance into a classier, trendier dive, and that's completely okay. The same guys are running the place, but the chalkboard art and high-tech jukebox has made it considerably more Instagram worthy. Fortunately, little else has changed. $9 cocktails (i.e. a mason jar full of booze with a splash of sweet-and-sour) and a long list of beers (with an 80% chance of the one you want being out) dominate the menu. I've learned to just sit down, name a genre and take whatever they give me, and I've never been dealt a bad hand. My nights at the Warehouse typically revolve around the pool table, watching girls with nose rings slide dollar bills into the jukebox while people smoke cigarettes on the wooden picnic tables out front. On warmer nights, it's a good place to watch the trains go by or the lights from Benecia reflect onto the delta. With prior clientele, it also used to be a great place to watch the late-night fistfights, but it feels like things are changing. We'll see. A great spot if you're looking for a go-to rather than a bar crawl. Drive slow and careful on the drives in and out of Port Costa, and watch out for deer. Also beware the door-free stalls in the ladies' room, if you value your privacy, and say Hi to the bear for me. ;-)
(5)Ingrid A.
Drinks can be a little pricey but they are all doubles.. so be careful. Food here is good, they have great tri tip.
(4)Nikki S.
I'd give it more stars if the blonde bartender wasn't such a rude monster to every woman she serves (unless she knows them) every time I came in. I used to love going to the warehouse, but now I stay as far away from it as I can. Unless Larry is the only one working.
(2)Andrew S.
Very interesting place; half antique store, half dive bar, half "lakeside" patio. We stopped in after walking the Bull Valley trail to Port Costa for a summer beer and quick bite to eat. They have hundreds of beers to choose from (although only a few on tap) and the cheeseburger was actually really tasty despite clearly being from a frozen pre-made patty. We sat on the patio overlooking the bay (well technically there's a parking lot and railroad track in between) and sipped Great White wheat with our burgers. Tap beers are $4 and the burger was $9. Nice that without many options for food and drink in this one-street town this one delivers! Bet the bar is a lot of fun at night too...
(4)Jessica M.
I used to love going to the Warehouse, my friends and I were regulars and would go every weekend. However, ever since they hired the blonde bartender, the service has gone to absolute shit. I have never once had a pleasant interaction with her. She treats women like complete crap and flirts with all the men, probably for better tips. Not to mention, she always appears to be drunk or on something. I'm very upset with what this place has become, but Larry is still awesome as ever and never fails to put a smile on your face.

A polar bear, Medusa and some bikers walk into a bar... Although it sounds like a tall tale or the beginning of a bad joke, it's actually a bar in Port Costa (east bay near Martinez and Crockett). In case you're not familiar with this small town, there are two ways in and out, both involve narrow, curvy, dark roads. So if you do come here, designate a driver or plan ahead (you need to make the reservation about a week in advance) and stay the night at the Hotel Burlington across the street. The town is about a block long where the street dead ends. The drinks are strong and the women are stronger. This house of oddities has mixed drinks, beer and wine with a crowd consisting of locals, bikers, day trippers and people watchers. Open until 2 AM, last call is at 1:45 AM. Opens at 10 AM daily. There is a giant polar bear that was shot in Alaska in the 60's and made its way to Port Costa as settlement to a hefty bar tab. During the day there is a shop in the back on the way to the restrooms with antiques and random items. Great for large groups. It does get rowdy here on the weekend so don't expect to sip a glass of wine here and have an intimate conversation. Warehouse is not known for its food or customer service so come for the drinks, stay for the "ambiance". This place is not for everyone, but if you enjoy roadside attractions, dives and people watching, it's worth closing down the bar.

At the end of Port Costa you'll stumble on a magical place. A small town near the coast on the hill where it's filled with old victorian styled homes and a small area for eateries like restaurants and bars. The drive to here sure seems like a journey and i recommend anyone to not take it alone or at night since the road gets steep and the hills get higher.... So coming to this place you'll need to have an open mind and also a thirst for steak because thats mainly what they serve. The food is so so. You get endless heaps of bread and an open salad bar station if you decide to go with just that. The menu is short and straight to the point. Unfortunately I tried their shrimp scampi and yes it was scampy. With little to be excited about. Although, the main attraction here is the Beer selection. It was AMAZING. and cheap! Thats what I would give an A+ for. They have over hundreds of it and kept in a fridge of your dreams. The whole place though, is quite amusing and very random as you would find things like a polar bear and elvis presley memorbilia's all over. Not something you would expect, but very interesting conversations would arise. Come try for the beer and experience not for the meal!

My boyfriend and I ordered their prime rib. Absolutely delicious! I almost always put salt & pepper and occasionally some kind of sauce (A1, Bbq, etc) on my meat. Their prime rib needed nothing! It was so juicy and moist and mouthwatering! I also ordered a Jameson and ginger ale. It was made perfectly! Love this place, and this was my first time here! Like other reviews say, its a dive bar with an old whimsical feel. There's even a giant polar bear in the back, next to the bar, and a metal medussa to the side. Warehouse cafe is full of quirky decorations. Definitely coming back here again!
